i have a very annoying problem in my dv7 infinity display... 3 dust particles r stuck between the infinity overlay and the screen itself,... i cant remove them by any means ,...
anyone faced any of this issues? and is it possible to remove the infinity overlay glass... to clean it up?
-
-
The same happened to me on - a Sony Ericsson mobile phone, a Sony Walkman (CD player, portable) remote control - unless laptops are built significantly different , there is no way you can remove them.
As far as I'm aware laptop screens are an "all in one" unit - no additional coverings... Thus, anything that's trapped inside stays there...
You may want to phone HP though... -
How about using a safety pin...dragging all the garbage down to one of the bottom corners and somehow get it out!
-
I just googled infinity display and I wish I had that! (DV2700 does not have that, still LCD and frame around lcd)
You probably want to call HP up for that... I had that problem with dust IN the lcd itself and after like a month of trying I eventually got a screwed up laptop back and eventually a new replacement unit. haha
And yes if it got in there once, it will get in there again and eventually you will go nuts with dust particles in your screen. Maybe even get a hair or two like I did! -
yep same issue...dust/dirt inbetween glass and lacd on hdx 16t. Worse than a dead pixel because you can't get it to remove the dust!
-
there's this one little particle on the top left corner of my screen that bugs the hell out of me! i've had it in there since the first day i got the notebook lol! i just try to ignore it, doesn't get on my nerves too much if i don't look at it
-
Good to know. I'm still figuring out how that helps, though
-
Luckily, I don't have any dust particles under my glass, but I am sure there must be a way to remove the glass and to clean everything up.
-
I'm sure I've heard of some people taking off the Infinity cover somehow, but maybe in their case, they didn't want it to go back on... -
btw.. its there at the HP Pavilion dv7 Entertainment PC - Maintenace and Service Guide .... its stated how u could remove the infinity bezel..
look at the removal of microphone and camera section..
here wt it says:
1. Turn the computer display-side up, with the front toward you.
2. Open the computer as far as possible.
3. Flex the inside edges of the top edge (1) and the left and right upper corners (2) of the display bezel
until the bezel disengages from the display enclosure.
4. Release the display bezel top edge (3) from the display enclosure.
tho.. i didnt have the courage to do so... if anybody removed the bezel , plz inform -
and post the vid. at youtube (",)

lso, I've received conflicting answers from HP (who seems to never have a clue about what hardware they are selling) to how much memory the HDX 16t can hold? HP has told me 4GB and 8GB from different sales associates, and crucial quotes 8GB? Any answers from owners of the HDX 16t?
-
4x4, 2x2. Mobos only have 2 dim slots so can only fit 2 sticks max. the memory that it takes is DDR2-800. 4x4 is really not needed. 2x2gb is all you need and its really cheap at 50$, where 4x4 is 250$+, too expenssive and not needed whatsoever. -
I never got dust in a laptop screen before. But in the past when I have had problems with dust I removed it with a vacuum cleaner. Try to suck it out with one.
-
This happens to the PSP alot. Some user suggested taking the PSP to a washroom with plenty of steam and it seems to remove some of the smaller dust particles. Of course, you should leave the notebook off.
-
Maybe try to blow it around with those canned air dusters o.o
-
Use a lint free cloth. or if it is actually inside the screen, phone up HP.
-
i think half the people here dont get the problem. you have dust stuck between the infinity glass cover and the actual screen right? the only way to clean it out will be to take the screen apart and separate the glass from the screen, i dont know about the new laptops but it was easy with my dv5000 just have to take out like 8 screws hidden under the rubber protector things then the back goes off and the screen is exposed. if youre not into taking stuff apart call hp
-
First consult with hp technicians what they suggest you. Dont try to clean it yourself if you have never handled such problem before, it could bring a big disaster for you.
-
I just called, they offered no assistance for correcting this issue outside of replacment. I have had mine 19 days and there are two specs of dust inside between the LCD and the Infinity panel right smack-dab in the middle. I requested a replacement unit with a "downgrade" back to the non-infinity display option.
I like the look and ease of cleaning of the Infinity however, it needs a little work as far as sealing it up tight enough for the dust to stay out.
The many complaints about the glare are valid but I could cope with the glare. The dust? NO. So I got a CPU upgrade as a trade-off for the display downgrade. Replacment will be here just in time for Christmas. -

im gonna have to BUMP!!!
-
Nope, I heard it was pretty hard to take apart the infinity display...I would send it in again and have them do it carefully...have a case manager oversee the whole thing...
-
itll happen again. i know it.
-
-
they should seal these things better. im thinking that dust may be getting in from the mic holes.
-
This expensive stuff has a "very complicated" design according to an Hp tech guy whom I met 2 days back at the service center...
@sendmarksmail,the manager at the service center told me "nothing can be done about the scratches at the bottom of the display, only if the screen fails we will replace it".......so I guess I will have to live it -
-
it sounds like we need glue or something to cover the edges of display.
-
i dont know why they could just seal it with some glue. like blag glue that blends in with computer. on the other hand that glue might get in the screen also.
-
did anybody manged to open the infinity bezel from the screen and remove dust? and is it glued?
or its just some clips? -
someone said its glued on. even if it is, there should be a way to open the screen from another place. cuz the screen has like 4 different parts to it.

plz guys if anyone has a solution for this annoying problem,. plz suggest ..i love this warrior a lot .. but i hate how dust is accumulating between the infinity bezel and the lcd. im thinking abt trying to get it apart and clean it
-
-
anyway, a vacuum helps me out =] -
i tried to blow dry some of that sh** out but it did nothing. i might try one of those handheld vacuum cleaners tho.
-
does anyone tried the vaccum cleaner . the hand held ones..? is it the car type ones? and if anybody did.. please advice how .. and whether it worked or no
-
so i called hp a couple days ago about the "dust" problem with the infinity displays. the guy said that it's a "rare problem" which doesnt make sense at all since there are quite a few people with the problem. he said that i could send it in again and get (yet another) screen. im thinking about "downgrading" to just a regular 1680 x 1050 screen and upgrading to a 320gb hard drive, since the screen downgrade would be 50 bucks less and the 320gb hard drive is 50 bucks more. what do you guys think i should do? also, if this hard drive upgrade erases all my s.hit i dont wanna do that.
-
did anyone find a solution to this dust problem other than hp service center?
-
-
-
Anyone actually take off the front glass piece? i would not be putting it back on, so thats not a concern. but what does it look like under there?
I have an HDX16T i want this done on, i didnt even have an option to get a normal screen like my dv5t.
i have 1 piece of dust in there thats going to drive me insane. -
i have lots of dust particles too... its driving me crazy.. i need to open it . or use a vacuum or wtever if works

The 'Infinity' display has no edges/frame like a traditional display. The screen appears to reach from edge to edge.
While it gives an overall sleeker look, there are a few drawbacks to the optional display. The most common issue is additional glare caused by the addition of the plastic Infinity panel. A few users have mentioned problems with dust getting between the Infinity panel and the screen surface behind it.
