Last week I sent in my HP DV5T to get fixed because one of the supervisors set up a repair because I told them that there was dust between my Inifinity Screen and LCD and that there are keyboard impressions on my screen. I send it in, and wait and check the order status.
Last night I checked and saw that I had a service charge of $428.35 so I called and questioned them. They told me that we had to "Escalate" the problem and that I have to personally talk to a Case Manager. I call the Manager and I tell him my problems. He tells me that the two problems that I have are out of warranty claims and that it is physical.
I argueed for almost an hour and still nothing. I gave up and they are in the process of returning my laptop. Thing is that, he said that the issue of having dust and keyboard impressions are now in the "ISSUE TRACKER" status and that HP will be looking out for others that have the same problem.
So what I'm hoping is that many of you that have DUST or Keyboard impressions with your INFINITY Display, call up HP and complain because they said if they hear about it enough, that it will fall into a Design Flaw and that we will all get Brand New screens.
I've noticed that all HP Infinity Displays get dust by people that posted comments here on the Notebook Review, so whether or not you have a DV5T or anything else, just as long as you have a INFINITY SCREEN, you should call and complain because we should not be held responsible with the repair costs for a design flaw.
If you guys did contact them about it, let me know because I'm curious about what they told you.
For those of you that read this, tell me what you think because I'm trying to make all the noise I can because it is BS that they are telling me that I physically damaged my computer.
What are your guys opinions?

Have you called and tried to get it refunded again? It helps to call another different rep sometimes.
-
No, I thought it wouldn't do any good because they are already in the process of shipping it back. But actually I will call again, but I don't know what they would say second time around.

it sucks that so many people are experiencing this issue.
My post is to simply present my case - i have the infinity display and, the way i view it, the infinity screen almost seems 'sealed' onto the display itself so in my case, i dont see how dust can even get between the two...
i have no dust at all under the infinity display. but i do get dust ALL OVER the laptop which annoys the bejesus out of me! -
Since you have talked to a Case Manager and that has not helped you. Perhaps you can talk to Executive Customer Service and see what they can do for you.

Hp didnt ship the laptop with dust did they?

did any one solve the dust issue ? open it or something?

Mines full of dust i tried to open another infinity screen and failed horribly. They arent designed to be taken apart i think. The metal edge of the LCD is glued to the front bezel so if you took this apart you would remove the glue and dust could get in easier. The dust i cant see when its running so i dont really care.

I also noticed dust inside my Infinity display and I get keyboard imprints... I should go call up HP...

You will not get any warranty for it, because they will not have any profit of changing your display for a non-infinity or clean it.
They are not fools, there are a lot of lappys with infinity display waiting for a oportunity to change it free of charge.
Seek another ways to solve this, i read somewhere in the forums that a person manually removed the display in order to clean the dust. Check it out if you see no solution.
Good luck, -
