Does anyone know how to safely disassemble an hp envy 14 screen? I found a large spec of dust under the plastic/glass screen smack dab in the middle. I don't know how it got there, but it's there now and has to go. Can anyone help?

Haha I have the same exact issue as you. Right in the middle of the screen. I haven't disassembled it yet but I plan on doing it this week.

    Thanks for the link EAFD.

pez319 - please let me know how it goes taking your screen apart. The directions in the other thread sound like it's missing some steps, but the pics show it's possible.

Its actually a lot easier than you'd think it is. the front panel just snaps on/off and is plastic not glass. If you are just cleaning dust you don't have to remove the tape at the bottom which really simplifies the process. As you will read in the thread posted above by EAFD (who is a life saver in this forum i must say) be sure to be in a humidified room or use some method to keep dust flying around from sticking to your screen while it is open and vulnerable.

Thank you Jesus, err, EAFD and spencerp. With the last bit of info you just gave me, I was took my swiss army knife and popped off the front plastic screen, starting at the top. I just unsnapped it enough to slide my finger in there to snatch that piece of dust and snapped it back together. Phew, I feel so much better now. Thank you thank you thank you!

OK I just tried prying at the red arrow part and its not popping out. I used a flat head. I sort of scratched a small portion of it. Do I need to pry at the blue part (Above the rubber border where it meets the metal)?

NVM I figured it out. It's the blue line

DO NOT pry the RED part. It's the blue.

Yeah, red part isn't separable, the gasket is glued to the plastic part, and where it is glued is the red seam. Blue seam is where the screen comes apart.
