I have a Dv6568 for a little big over a year now. However, now I seem to be having a few problems with it. First the battery. After charging it too 100% the laptop only seems to last 20 minutes or so. The meter is is fine from around 100- 80 or so but after that it usually drops instantly to 6 and shuts off. I have tried calibrating it with the instructions from the hp site but no change. Another problem I'm having is with the heat. It seems to be really hot on the left palm rest area. It has the 8400M GS so I have a feeling it might be this. However HP didn't list the dv65XX models as ones with defective GPU's. Anyone know any ways to help me out with the battery or the heat problem? Thanks

First, make sure you are using the latest BIOS release for your notebook.

    Version: F.59 A

It's highly recommended that you use this BIOS release, since recent releases have altered the fan algorithm to reduce the likelihood of issues arising from heat. Also make sure that your NVIDIA graphics driver is up-to-date. Check out my driver thread (in sig) for the latest release available.

As for the battery, you may want to consider trying another battery to see if the same problem occurs. If it doesn't, then it could be that the current battery has outlived its usefulness. :)
