The Compaq version of the Dv2000 is SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than the HP version. Upgrading the Compaq version also costs less. Why? Is there something that I need to know about the Compaq version? Why would anyone buy the HP branded version when it's so much more? I'm specifically interested in the Turion version, but I have not yet ruled out the Core Duo. I just don't understand the price difference! Is there a quality/reliability issue? Also how will the quality compare to HP's older dv1000?

    Thanks,

I'm not sure what "so much more" is... is it a $100? $200?

The only differnces that I'm aware of is, the HP comes (standard???) with the built in 1.3mp camera and dual microphones. The compaq, I believe, doesn't offer that option.

Also, the HP has touch-technology buttons, which enable users to launch media applications and control volume and mute functions with a swipe of thier finger. The Compaq has the touch technology buttons as well, but only for volume control and launching quick play, no media buttons (fast forward, play/pause, fast rewind etc)

Compaq also weights slightly more then the HP.

If the camera isn't a big deal to you, go with the Compaq. They also look different, but they both look great!

Just curious, how much are you actually saving?
