Hi, my dv2000 froze up last night while playing Quake 4 on it. I had to hard boot it to reset it. However, now when i turn it on the screen doesn't turn on and stays black. Any ideas?

What exactly did you do to 'reset it'?

Hold down the power button, or another method?

Did it power up after you reset it, or did you leave it off overnight?

Well, the reason it froze up and now fails to boot could be several things.

The only time I had a computer do that was back in 2005, and to make a long story short, it was sold for parts. Motherboard was fried or something.

There could also be a problem with the main partition on your hard drive.

However, the problems you are describing are not a good sign, are most likely have a slim chance to fix them on your own.

I recommend calling a local computer shop to get some advise before calling HP so you can see what you’re dealing with (unless you have a warranty with HP, then call them).

    Good luck.
