Hi, I have just purchased a HP note book but when I use the arrow keys when browsing the internet of using the touch pad, I notice a faint buzzing sound coming from the notebook. I have already tried to mute the volume but the sound is still there. Also, sometimes, the hard drive randomly speeds up. I'm a first time notebook owner so I don't have much experience. Are these things normal? I haven't modified any softwae and I have a 1.6 gigahertz AMD Turion X2, 1 gig or RAM, a 160 gig hard drive and a GeForc 6150 card. Otherwise, I am very happy with the notebook, but these things kinda bug me. I guess I'm too used to a desktop.

This seems to quite normal and is attributed to the cpu power savings or jsut bad motherboard design. but the real answer is unknown considering not everyone is experiencing the same buzz issues. Search the forum there are threads all over discussing the same issue across all brands(Intel or AMD).

If your notebook is updated to the latest BIOS, there should be an option in the BIOS to disable the C4 SpeedStep function, which will get rid of the noise coming from your notebook. You just might loose a bit of battery life though if you often aren't actively using your notebook (like just reading something on the screen).
