    hey
Ive posted before about having temperature issues but this time it is more serious...

    link to previous post
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=343935

My CPU is hitting 97 degrees while playing games, and idles at around 75 degrees. the only problem is this time is that the vents are clear because more air blows out of them than previously. raising the laptop doesnt help much... it only knocks about 5 degrees off and still hits in the 90 degree range. could there possibly be a problem with my laptop because it shouldnt really be hitting 97 because according to intel the thermal specification for the P7350 is 90 degrees...

please help me :) im grateful for any suggestions ;)

i will try the undervolting but im not really confident about applying thermal paste. is there any chance if i say to HP that the temps are really high they might do some sort of servicing on it?
its in warranty for another year and i dont really want to do anything that could void that :(

the GPU also hits in the 90 degree range but the GPU can tolerate more heat than the CPU can right?

What is the ambient (room) temperature?

and how on earth could the vents all of a sudden start to 'work better'?

make sure you are running the latest bios by going to http://www.hp.com/#Support

This temps are really not good for P series CPU.
    Wich games are you playing?
Sounds kinda odd because I own a P8400 and always at 51 degress when playing GTA4.
When closing the game and start modeling something, the CPU goes to 39-40degrees.
Did you owned the laptop for long and maybe there could be dust
    in the fan.
I cant examine on the underbody of the laptop.
There are 2 or more holes.
    I know a good tip.
Always when you drinked 2 bottles empty, place 2 caps
on rubber paws of the laptop.
This will make 10 degrees difference.
Without this option ,the GPU 9600M GT will get 84C.
With this, the gpu will get 73-76.
Thats always the biggest minus from a laptop, the heat.

well it happens with all games really: sims 3, 2, sc4, spore GTA etc

if i can i do try to raise the laptop but it makes it unstable most of the time, although using bottle caps is a good idea :) the 9600m GT reaches 90 degrees but usually drops about 5 when i make it higher

sorry for not explaining. when i previously posted about the temperature being too high it was because the air vent was blocked... but this time the temperatures are higher than last time but the vents arent blocked and have a good air flow

it is fairly cold in here so id say its about 18 degrees

my bios is up to date

Right ive undervolted the P7350 to 1.000V on both multipliers x6 and x7. it seems to be stable by running ORTHOS for 10min but im a bit worried because it is the lowest voltage i could select. there is only 2 multipliers to change aswell.

im running the stability test now and will post back once its ran for an hour

    thanks for the help :)

    Yeah, exactley.
I never knew these GPU is running so hot.
Since I got my HDX16, it changed my mind for laptops.
Depsites of the heat, I always love laptops.
Desktop always stays on one place.
Im someone who doesnt sit on a chair and plays on desktop.
I regurlary moves my laptop, so yeah, I paid 1300 euro while
I could pay 1200 euro for high-end desktop.
About the bottlecaps I got it from someone whos facing the same
    problem.
    And it really helps.

    Ow something really odd.
There is a program thats EVGA Precision.
Thats a prog where you can overclock speeds for GPU.
And someone told put the Fanspeed to 100% to cool it down.
But what the f, EVGA says "Its equipped with a fan"
How does the GPU runs without fan?
    I thought they have fan.
I should put it on 100% to cool it down but no.

Right ive ran the stability test for 45min and it hasnt BSOD'ed, so im guessing it is stable enough at 1.000V

for the temperature im getting different readings from RMclock and HWmonitor.

On HWmonitor i get 77 max for core0 and 75 for core 1

    On RMclock i get 6 for Core0 and for Core1 i get 61

which program is actually right? because there is a considerable gap between the 2 sets of temperatures?

also, why has my processor speed dropped to 1862.5 Mhz? it was originally 1995.5 before i undervolted the processor? will there be a negligible performance loss with it losing around 140mhz?

Ok, so I could be wrong.
I always readed the temps with HWMonitor.
    So the 39-51C are hoax?

these are my temperatures for when the cpu is under load, so 39-51 is probably right for when your CPU isnt under load.

my processor is now idle n im getting 51 degrees with RM clock and 63 degrees on average with HW monitor

im really lost when it comes to temperatures :p id hope that RMclock's temp of 51 is correct but im unsure? please help :)
