    What am I missing here?

Every notebook I have owned in the past lets you set a harddrive specific password in the bios that moves with the harddrive, but my Dv5t seems to be missing that feature.

It is, because it's an HP or the toshiba drive in my notebook doesn't support a harddrive password?

As far as I'm aware HP's laptops do not have this feature. :)
