I couldn't take off the panel and look up what model is the screen on dv6.
But I know it's cheap samsung 2008 production.

    There are two unknown issues
1 which connector is stock screen using?
2 does the ribbon cable also work for FHD screen?

I read some posts, FHD screen require different ribbon cable.
Greatly appreciate if anyone could answer.
I guess I am going to return it if the screen isn't replaceable, such nice laptop but why HP uses cheap samsung products.
It's serisouly the 2nd worst screen I ever used.
The number 1 cheap junk was came with samsung QX410....

It was a lesson I will never buy samsung products, but why hp use them"

That's a poor assumption to make about Samsung. That's like an owner of a $400 HP notebook saying HP only makes low quality products without having tried an Envy or Elitebook. Just about every screen manufacturer makes cheap lcds, AUO included.
But back to your question, I'm not 100% sure. See if you have the right connector. I know my numbers are off, but I believe 1366x768 has a ~16 pin cable and 1600x900 and FHD has 32 or 40. I upgraded to this screen on my HP Elitebook and didn't require a new cable from 1600x900. It reports a Lenovo part # but worked without a hitch.

I have the dv6-3050sg, i replaced my LG-screen with a ChiMei-model N156B6 and it worked. You just need to follow the service manual.

Do you know if the connector is right also for a FullHD monitor? I.e., are all the pins populated or some track are missing?

For anyone still watching this, I am in the process of upgrading from 720p to the B156HW01 V.4. It does require a FHD cable, 40 pins. I already ordered the cable for the 1080p version of the Dv6t and installed it. I took apart the old cable, and it only has 22 wires. I am going to order the screen probably tomorrow, so keep watching. By the way, the actual model number of the 720p screen is the AUO B156XW02 v.2. Same as the XPS 15 720p screen. For more info, check out the modding thread, most notably, the last ~20 pages.
