I have the latest official HP drivers installed and on the ATI 6770m,
I have the same problem in every game. I get a 30fps or 60 fps cap,
it is never inbetween, even the same game will be 30fps then a little
later 60fps, then back to 30fps. Other games have a pure 30fps cap
and other 60fps cap. When I set wait for vertical refresh to always off,
it does NOTHING! Vsync is still always on. What do I do, this is
ridiculous. Never had a problem setting Nvidia card to vsync off and it
not doing a damn thing! This laptop has no way I can see to disable
vsync, even though it has an option for it!

I had an Envy 17 recently. And used AMD/ATI many times in the past. I always had some sort of problems when using them and now only stick with Nvidia.

I couldn't even select the scaling option I wanted on the Envy. Now I have no good GPU option with HP except G7 option. :(

What game brah? I only experienced those with Warhammer 40K Space Marine and Batman Arkham City. Both console port.

Another game with hard 30fps capped is From Dust.

Most games. Recent one is Afterfall Insanity and Earth defense force insect armaggedon. I don't recall the games in the past that did this, but there were a few. It seems if the game doesn't have it's own vsynch disable, there is no change the ATI catalyst control center option will do anything at all. And it has an option to override program and make everything off for wait for vertical refresh, but it just doesn't do anything. On my desktop, NVIDIA thank god, you can go in and change a zillion 3d atributes for EACH game. Can you do this somehow I am missing on this laptop? Like edit the 3d settings of an individual installed game thru catalyst control center?

Yeah, sometime in-game Vsync setting override the Vysnc setting in CCC which is kinda lame.

If you want individual 3D settings for each game, install Catalyst 12.1-preview.

Really? I heard to never install a new catalyst control center because of the Intel/ATI switching. I was told to only copy the new drivers over, not the ccc or you will have stability and switching problems??

Thanks, I did what you said and installed the newest ccc.
I still have the same problem, even with making a custom profile,
vsync off, Earth Def Force and Afterall Insanity have a seemingly random 30 or 60 fps cap, it can actually switch while playing different parts of the same game Afterfall, but is always 30 on E D F. But I am getting better framerates with the new drivers, so thanks. And screw ATI and their wait for vertical refresh option that never works.

Yeah, i had the same problem with Arkham City. The only framerate i get was 30 or 60 even after turned vsync off in CCC. After i turn ingame vsync setting off, i didn't get 30fps capped anymore.

Indeed, sometimes even AA setting didn't apply properly. D:

Unfortunately those games don't have an in game vsync option!
