Hi all, I know this model in relation to BIOS settings has come up a lot, but after searching most of it seems to be to do with installing windows XP.

However, I have a DV65000 with a geforce 7150m, I have just installed 2 gb of ram and would like to share some of this memory with the graphics card, this must be able to be achieved as all the models i looked at before purchasing had around 289mb or 580mb depending on 1gb or 2gb of ram respectively (with 7150m's).

Whenever I hold down esc at startup, it just quickly flashes the BIOS up for a second...it doesnt let me alter anything, is there anyway you guys know of that I can share some of my ram with my 7150m?

    cheers in advance.

The BIOS menu access keys should be F10. The esc key just allows you to change the boot order.

In any case adding more than 256MB for the 7150m is a waste and wont really improve performance since you are going to be bound by the actual GPU for performance not the amount of memory it can access.

I had a dv9500t with the 8600m vid card. With the right drivers it will detect how much RAM your system has and change the amount of shared RAM that the Vid card can use.

Thanks, pressing f10 takes me to the bios, but the only options i have are system time and date and language.
The only option pertaining to the gpu is the frame buffer size (which I have changed from 64 to 128).

I don't want to set aside a massive amount of ram, its just that I bought the model with 1gb and thus only up to 280 mbs (gpu), whereas the exact same models with 2 gb of ram and the same gpu, are stated as having up to 580 mbs, thats all i want to change it to.

That is it. Anything above that is dynamically allocated by Windows.

Thanks for the reply, so basically I don't have to do anything, I've changed the frame buffer size and i just let windows do the rest?

Yup. If the gpu calls for more ram, Windows will give a loan.
