I'm debating between the 6500 and the 2500 and I was hoping for some feedback.
On HP's website there seems to be about a pound difference in weight, and I was curious in finished systems how heavy they feel. I want a smaller, more mobile notebook, but if the different between the 2 is fairly tiny I'd probably just go with the larger more powerful one, which also seems to be slightly cheaper.
Also, how much more do the high capacity batteries tend to weigh?

As you can see, the components are not that much different. The essence of the difference is the size and, if you travel with it, you'll be elated you chose a 14" over a 15.4" laptop.
I carried a 15.4 on three multi-continent trips last year. Replaced it with a 14", the HP SE L2000, and am much happier with it. Very simply it fits on the various surfaces one must use on the road, it doesn't get banged up as much as you haul it around because it is smaller, and computer bags provide more protection because it is not pressed to the edges of the bags as much. The screen is quite adequate with a 1280x800 resolution and I often plug into an external monitor as well when at my base.
I would recommend the 2 or 3 year accidental damage policy, regardless of which one you get, as they are both plastic and can crack on a fall from a table or something. Good luck with the decision.
