Okay, I am having an issue with my Nlu-Ray drive in my Dv6700CTO laptop. I got ahold of a PowerDVD software and I have been working fine with a couple of issues here and there (Slow load times) but now for some reason I can not get any blu-Ray movies to load what-so-ever. Even the ones that I have played previously.
I can however put i n a DVD and it reads it fine, but that doesn't help out 100% because the blu-Ray uses a totally different laser. When I put in a Blu-Ray movie and bring up the CMD prompt and try to go to 'D:" I get a Device I/O error. And nothing will ever load, I can't even Explore the drive. So, something must be wrong here. Anyone else have any issues? I've sent HP and e-mail, and I am about to call and see about getting a replacement. I think I should have just not gotten a Blu-Ray drive and just bought a PS3.

Did you upgrade the PowerDVD software? I know there was an update for BD related issues. Other then that I would call HP. Could be problem with the BD drive.
-
Yes I have the update. I don't think it is software related, because even if you wait and watch My computer it will not show a loaded Blu-ray movie like it did before.
-
I had issues with BD playback using the HDMI, it had to do with the settings and how the displays were configured, cloned vs independent. Once I set to independent and adjusted the Sony LCD TV, everything worked fine.
-
I have th HDMI issue figured out, I was using it on my Samsung LCd monitor and now trying on my LCd LN52A650 t.v.
I use only the tv display.
But, I annot load any blu-ray movies now...like my laser isn't working -
could be a driver issue? did you do any windows update? i had an experience before on one of my notebook components i just can't recall which one. problem starts when i update my windows vista and included this optional driver update. after i reboot my computer then cannot use this component so i reinstall the original driver to corret the issue.
-
Well, I do have automatic updates so it would be hard to tell, but I have been running SP1 for a while now and haven't had any trouble.
-
Have you tried uninstalling the drive via the Device Manager and then having the device reinstall the driver?
-
Yes, I already tried that. I'm hoping something hasn't happened to the laser/lens. I'm sure HP would take forever to fix that.
-
your drive seems to be dead
try looking for a firmware anyway. -
Have you tried the Cyberlink BD HD Advisor?
-
Based on what I've heard, it sure sounds to me like the blue laser has failed. Just curious, but what what is the make and model of that B-D drive?
