Okay, so I ordered the Dv6t-6xxx quad edition. On the HP website, during customization, it said I was customizing the QE. At check out, when reviewing the specs, it said I was ordering SE. After ordering, my confirmation email said I ordered the QE. And now when I go to track the status, its said SE order is in production. I called sales and they had NO idea what they were talking about.

Whats up with that? Which one did I order and what is the difference between the two?

    Hello,
Nothing to worry about... HP is phasing out the "quad edition" name. They are combining the quad edition with the select edition. Right now they are switching between the two names...

Oh dear. That means that you can expect getting a quad-core to be at least $100 more expensive than it is now (probably $200)... I'm sure that the price of the 6770M will jump as well.

Anyway, the only difference is the CPU. Just make sure you have the right one.

Why would you suppose this will happen? All they are doing is merging the two... So the base laptop will allways be the select edition and you can modify to quad core as you customize it. (streight from the hp reps)

HP would have to make the 2630QM $25 cheaper than the 2620M or cut the base price for the prices to remain the same. There's no chance that'll happen. They are going to price the 2630QM $100-150 over the 2620M and increase the price of the 6770M by at least $25 just because they can.

I would just make sure you inspect all the hardware - CPU, video card, etc that comes with your laptop to make sure you get what you paid for.
