Need some advice. I am getting another notebook to take on the road with me.

It requires a decent webcam for skype conferencing. The Llano looks very interesting, but for the price it's about the same as the Dv6t QE.

I would want to upgrade to the 1080 screen regardless on which one I get.

Any feedback from Z or T owners out there?

The price isn't about the same...
Dv6z if you're on a budget or want to save money. Dv6tqe if you have the budget for it and want a pretty high end laptop.

If you get a quad core in the DV6t it will be worlds faster than the quad in the DV6z. But for most stuff, the DV6z is more than adequate, even gaming. With Crossfire technology in the z has the potential of far surpassing the 6770m in the t with improved drivers and overclocking. But right now that's potential, and not reality yet.

You can get a z for < $750 with an A8 quad CPU and 6750m GPU with 1920x1080 screen with the 30% discount. The t will run you over $150 more with similar specs.

Depends pretty much entirely on how much you want to pay. If you are planning on spending say - more than 900 or so - then I'd go with the dv6t quad edition. Any less, and you should get the dv6z quad edition.

You specify that you need to take this notebook to the road. Keep battery life in mind when you buy. The dv6z is more than adequate for Skype and has excellent battery life to boot. I haven't tried it with Skype, but the dv6z lasted ~5.5 hours in Office use, so I'd expect at least 3.5 hrs with Skype.

5.5 hours with 9-cell or 6-cell? If with 6-cell then I'll be impressed how far I can go with 9-cell!

It's the high capacity 6-cell at 62Wh. Like I said, though, it was only with office running and reading articles on the web. Brightness was 30% and the CPU was throttled to 78% max (more than enough). Wi-Fi and bluetooth were left on.

Even so, 5.5 hours with wi-fi on and basic documents and web browsing. I have yet to do my browser test yet, but I find it's pretty accurate for web surfing.

Thanks everyone for the replied. Yes, will be doing Skype video conferencing a lot. How good is the stock webcam in the DV series? Anyone used a XPS webcam to compare?

The dv6z's webcam is average, in my opinion. The only thing "HD" about it is that it's a 1MP webcam versus the 0.3MP VGA webcams in previous HP models. Its low light performance is augmented by a software filter which makes the frame rate plummet, so I'd recommend turning that off for Skype.

I've never owned an XPS so I can't provide a comparison, but I'd imagine the Dell XPS will have a better webcam just like an HP Envy should have a better webcam (they are top of the line consumer models for the respective companies). Overall, I'd say the dv6z's webcam performance is "good enough" and definitely better than even last year's Pavilions'.
