So yesterday after getting home i decided to use my laptop. Well i opened up the screen and noticed my wifi and sound buttons were orange but the sound was still on and so was the wifi. First things first i tried new drivers... No luck. After this i decided to open up the laptop and check the cable. Durring this i got the wifi button to work for about 5 seconds im not sure what i did but it still dosent work. I even tried another media bar cover from a working dv7 still no luck. So does anyone know where my problem might be or do i have to send this laptop into hp?

I had the same thing on the Dv5t, with the mute button. It was ALWAYS orange, but it worked fine. If your buttons work I dont know if its worth the hassle to talk to HP lol, ah todays customer service..

You can try that thing some people suggest where you remove the battery and AC adapter and then hold the power button for about 30~40 seconds, this supposedly discharges built up static electricity but I haven't seen it actually ever do anything lol, worth a shot though.

My buttons do not work at all. Only the power button works which i odd because the rest of the buttons on the same strip dont. I will try the drivers but i dont think its a software issue because they dont work period normally the sound buttons work even with out drivers.

    Hi,

Apart from your little problem... would you recommend the HP DV7 laptop?

    Thanks,

Yeah i would recommend the dv7. Get it before 16:9 takes over. I havent had many problems plus this laptop has had a drink spilled in it and its still going so thats a good sign of durability lol.
