Hi guys I'm looking for some help on my issue
I own this notebook i want to know if this support sata III,i have been reading some thread some of them say yes, and some others says no. So i'm a little confused.
I'm going to get a ssd, do i buy a sata III ssd or a sata II ssd?
Here on argentina the difference between sata II and sata III is too much money. And I won't buy a sata III sdd, having the performance of a sata II, that's a waste of money.
I have talked with hp chat support but they are useless haha
thanks in advance and sorry for my english (i'm from argentina)

Lets see if we can figure this out for you:
Start> type devmgmt.msc hit enter
Locate the entry labeled IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers
Expand it
Find the Intel(R) ICH Serial ATA controller
Post the model number here (it'll be something like ICHxM blah blah blah)
Also, right click on that same device and get properties
Go to the Details tab
in the drop down select Hardware ID
Post the entire contents of the hardware ID here. -
this is what i've found on id hardware
Intel(R) Mobile Express Chipset SATA AHCI Controller
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1C03&SUBSYS_159A103C&REV_04
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1C03&SUBSYS_159A103C
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1C03&CC_010601
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1C03&CC_0106 -
Apologies for the delay in response. Unfortunately those did not tell me what I was hoping to find out, I was expecting it to say which model mobile chipset it had ICH8M/9M/10M etc...
You might be able to find out if you download something like SiSoft Sandra which gives a full hardware breakdown. Even CPU-Z might help a little since it will tell you your specific chipset, although it wont tell you if they utilized the SATA III connections or not. -
Chipset on cpu z motherboard section says, Sandy Bridge, Southbridge Couggar Point HM65
Also i run HWinfo and on motherboard it says, sata por 0 and 1 6gb supported, so that's my answer. Or i'm wrong?
SATA Port 0 6 Gb/s: Supported
SATA Port 1 6 Gb/s: Supported
