I'm trying to get an idea of what dv7t models came with the vents on the bottom plastic cover.

    I have
    2X 7200RPM HD's
    TV Tuner Card
    Intel Pro Wireless w/Bluetooth
    4gb OCZ RAM (2x2gb)

And my plastic cover only has a vent over the RAM. The computer is overheating, and I'm wondering if I have the wrong cover.

Mine only has one above the ram. It does have one below the main CPU fan spot. Both of my dv7's are just like this.

Page 16. Item 4 is what I'm talking about. Mine only has the vent over the RAM, not the other two vents over the HD and the TV Tuner/Wireless module.

I wish they'd sell a 12-cell battery that stuck up a tiny bit in the back. It would solve a lot of the problems and add battery life.

^^^^ I agree why dont they just make the 12 cell battery fit the dv7 and include a plastic cover to cover up the open bit of the battery slot because dv7 batterys are longer.
