Is LCD the only plus point of the DV8t?
It seems the graphics card of the dv6t is more powerful.

I have a question. Where are you planning on getting a DV8? Last I checked, HP discontinued that model. At least on the US site. I'm glad I bought my 18" HDX when I did with the BD burner and back lit keyboard. Today, I don't think HP ships anything with the BD burner option. The 18" is gone as well as the back lit keyboard. But the HDX/DV8 1920X1080 screen was truly beautiful. Its a nicer screen then my other HP 2509 desktop monitor (25"). In fact, that is one of the best screens I have ever seen with great vertical/horizontal viewing angles. If your thinking about wanting a laptop with that screen, you better jump on it if you know where they still exist.

I actually got the DV8 (in europe) this week
Someone else got the DV6 at the same time, and I was wondering about exchanging it.
Yes, the screen is the *only* reason I went for this laptop; and it really is nice.
If I get the DV6t, I could get an extenal monitor at work with it...but that crappy resolution.. -
Well, unless your going to game, I would keep the dv8. It looks like the DV7 is going to be the biggest screen they make. And the fonts are going to be too small IMO on anything less then the 18". I personally don't like to game much on my HDX.. Although I do have a really good aluminum cooler Amazon.com: Zalman ZM-NC2000Black Notebook Cooler (Black): Electronics
Strongly suggest you blow out the dust on a regular basis and get that cooler. My machine shut itself down a few times when I was trans-coding some video with some dusk in the vents and without the cooler. Now that I have the cooler and regular vent cleanings, no problems. If you game, these machines can get really hot when sitting flat on the table. -
Ugh, looks like the DV6t has 1x4GB sodimm, but the dv8t has 2x2GB sodimms.. The dv6t is looking so attractive right now...

FYI, I had to get a new battery for my HDX18 (identical to dv8t except for the system board, I believe), and I picked up (off ebay) a 12-cell battery.
I must say that I am very pleased with this purchase because (and I didn't know it at the time) the 12-cell is a bigger battery and actually props the back end of my HDX18 off the table! I really like the angle and the fact that it helps cool the unit! And, the battery seems to be quality and using batterybar, can read all the "smart info" from the battery! -
HP has a good selection of HP-refurbished dv8's on their site. I'm trying very hard to tell myself my HDX18 is all I need, yet it's getting harder and harder to resist temptation to upgrade to a Core i-series and still keep the wonderful screen that I love so much about my HDX18!
I have a Quadcore Extreme QX9300 right now, and it's plenty fast, but still, I feel even the refurb dv8t's won't be around forever, so I need to pick one up now while the pickin's good!
