For some reason when my dv9000 starts up the screen has become enlarged; the icons and text have become much larger; its like evrything has become magnified which makes the video look fuzzy; haven't messed with the magnifier; it apparantly has nothing to do with this particular problem; it's like you've put a large magnifier over the screen; nothing I do changes it; shutdown and/or reboot doesn't do it. maybe someone else has had the problem.

Was it the desktop that became larger after startup without you doing anything? Or were you in a program, say, Firefox, and it acted really weird? I have a problem with the keyboard acting as if the 'Control' is pressed. It goes away when I hit the 'Control' key. Perhaps you have the same problem.

Check the screen resolution. Maybe you set it to something low by accident, or the system is acting haywire and re-setting the resolution. To check go: Desktop>Properties>Settings in WinXP.
