I have zd8000 (3.4 mhz, 2gb, 100HDD 7200 RPM) and I absolutely love this maschine. I also have Dell620D with dual core but it can't match the performance of my zd8000. Im about to buy a new dual 2 core machine. Im wondering between these two babies:

    Graphics Card 512MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 7600
    HP Imprint Finish/Microphone/Webcam
    Memory 2048MB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
Hard Drive 100GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive

What would be the difference in terms of performance. I would appreciate very much your opinion as Im about to buy one of them by the end of the year

    Cheers

The specs are similar....the dv9000t has the edge because of its GPU, and its about a thousand dollars cheaper.

I have an nx9420 and I love it. The one thing I have read a lot of on this forum is how bad the HP "consumer line" support is and how cheap their line feels.

Whereas I have also read a lot about how much better the business line is. My nx9420 is polished and feels nice. It is solidly constructed and overall the feel is much nice then a co-worker's dv8000t.

    Just my 2cents.

The only realy difference is going to be with the graphics, the design, and the build quality. The build quality will be better on the nw, but the new dv series is definitely not weak in terms of build quality. If you are going to be carrying it around alot, and have the extra money, get the nw, otherwise I would vote for the dv

Quadro FX 1500M is actually equivalent to Geforce Go 7900 GS. And it's faster than 7600 as far as I know.

yes the benchmarks show that the 1500m smokes the 7600...... and in most cases slightly better than the 7900gs

so basicall your'e getting a much stronger gpu and a better build quality in the business line model. however, thats not to say the dv9000t is poor quality, my unit feels good to me. ill also add that the hd-dvd on the dv9000t is a nice addition and at 1k cheaper, its the better value.

its hard to compare and ask people which laptop to buy when the price difference is so much, but in terms of shear value, the dv9000t i believe is better.

Thank you very much for yuor opinion guys.
Yes I was kinda leaning towards the DV.

Do you know what sort of mainboards these laptops have Cuz the mainboard aparently very crusial in terms of performance.

Does anybody have benchmark results of the both laptops?

    Cheers

Im using alot of GIS software like ArcGIS and Mapinfo. Do you think these two guys would handle these applications?
Im not very much into gaming.

im not 100% sure, but i quickly went and looked at the system requirements for both software and id say that both notebooks should be able to handle it without a problem. if you're not a gamer, i dont think you would notice the difference between the two gpus.

just keep in mind the dv9000t, although mechanically sturdy in my opinion...it feels rather delicate. just the finish and design tells me that its not the type of unit id want to be taking everywhere with myself.

Just a FYI... if you already have a machine to "use", and can get by a while longer with it you might want to consider "waiting" till the next gen machines come out.

Google Hybrid Hard drives /Vista... Santa Rosa 800 mhz, vs 667

On the 9xxx vs the nw9440.... keep in mind the 9 is a "consumer" model, HP using the consumer line as a "testing" bed.... The Business models getting more lets say "refined" components (stable)

Another aspect is the WARRANTY.. (ask Tommi about that)

BTW: Here's a thread you may find interesting:

    http://www.notebookforums.com/thread179275.html

    HP nw9440.
    Package overview: T7200 C2Duo,
    1GB, 80/7200 HD,
    WSXGA, matte,
    DVD-RW super-multi,

NAS docking station w 160/7200 HD, tilting notebook stand,

    L1955 flat LCD external monitor
    ,
3 yrs warranty, Promo price: $2799.
I added 3 yrs accident coverage for $139.

Note: you can add ram later, buy third party cheaper, most of the time so don't let that kill any deal you may find. Ditto on the hard drive..

PS: on the dv9xxxx... add in 3 years worth of insurance if you haven't already so both machines have the same warranty specs...
