    Hi

I am having trouble with the hp expresscard tv-tuner. I'm running windows vista 32bit, I have done everything along the instructions, but the tuner just cand find any services, although it should.

I tried the drivers windows originally installed for the card but then updated to ones windows suggested. The first drivers didnt work and the second ones caused my machine to crash beautifully with a blue screen.

Any similiar experiences? I a trying to get signal through the antenna, not cable. Any help appriciated.

What program are you using to watch tv? When exactly does the crash occur?

You could try using HP Update to check the drivers. Just press the start (windows) key on your keyboard, type hp update, and press enter. click next, and see if it finds drivers for you.

Yeah I am essentially experiencing the same thing with the blue screen crash on my dv9008t. On occasions when I can actually find a service I can't get a proper signal and am presented with a snazzy green screen instead of a nice tv channel - grah!

those tuner cards are not totally ready for prime time. Mine works fine when it works but there are times when windoes media center does not detect it and I have to plug and unplug a few times to get it working.

That's strange. Mine works flawlessly with absolutely no problems. Do we have the same tuner? Are you sure the antenna is connected correctly? Maybe there's something wrong with the antenna cable. maybe you have a defective unit.

These drivers are directly from HP. See if that helps. I would see if it's poss to exchange for a new one.

Weird. Now that I install these drivers linked above, the device shows that it has no drivers at all in the list of devices.

I can't see what I am possibly doing wrong. I run the .exe your url points to, and the tuner doesnt react at all. It claims no driver has been installed. Then I've got the folder for the drivers in the hard-drive, and there I have hcwdriverinstall.exe which just says no compatible hardware found. Funny.

*interestingly I can get the Yuan card drivers the hp site offers me installed, but again no luck finding any services. Can't be a broken antenna as I tried cable also.

HP has 2 different kinds of ExpressCard TV Tuners, 1 is analog, the other is hybrid analog/digital. Make sure you get drivers for the correct one.

I did read that you are not supposed to either plug on unplug the expresscard while the computer is on. I was just curious to whether that ever happened? Maybe it did something and I don't want to have the same problem.

I have no problems and I have the digital card. Just to specify, it's dual mode analog/digital.

I always plug mine in when my computer is already turned on, and then take it out when i'm done with it. It doesn't give me any problems at all. It just makes the sound that windows makes when you connect/disconnect a usb device. And it works perfectly fine.
