which computer will offer better dvd playback? this is my concern..the zt3000 offers up to 64 mb of dedicated graphics memory and the dv1000 has an integrated graphics chip now from my understanding this effects game performance but what about daily tasks such as web browsing or word processing and dvd playback, will these things be effected by a lower grade integrated graphics chip like the dv1000 offers... reason im asking is because im leaning more toward the dv1000 also keep in mind i have a pretty good desktop pc i use for gaming and such but would use the laptop mostly for travel and light gaming and dvd watching..thanks for any help...

    yoot!

You're not gonna notice a difference in DVD playback. The video cards are not utilized that much (doesn't make a difference) when playing DVD's. They're dependant on the CPU. Older systems did not have powerful GPU's so it was puched through the CPU's and overlayed on top of the screen.

I have an old Toshiba with 8MB or video memory. Yes, that's right, only 8MB! This plays all my DVD's just fine.

You're probably gonna like the ZT3000 better because of the larger screen size. This will allow for a better view of the movie from farther distances and also allow more people to watch with you. I had an NX7000 (similar build design to the ZT3000) and it was great in watching movies. Also, with the more powerful GPU, graphics and games will perform better if you decide to utilize these apps/games.

I wonder if the screen effects you are seeing are because of the brightview option. I do not see the problems at the screen edges when I view at an angle and my DV1000 does not have the brightview option. The brightview option is just a special coating or film they put on the screen and I wonder if it is causing a polarization type affect when viewed at an angle.
Does any one else with a DV1000 that does not have the brightview screen option see this effect?
