When ever i try to play a dvd on my laptop no matter what o/s dvd play backsoftware e.t.c it does not work.. it skips + has random blocky pixels everywhere. but the drive is perfectly capable at reading dvd roms + cd's e.t.c but it cannot play dvd videos.
I have the latest video drivers installed too!
Any suggestions?

P.s. i have put a Lense cleaning CD in the drive to rule out the lense been dirty.

Does this happen for all DVDs you play? or just one?

Try VLC media player. It looks like you're codecs are outdated. Try installing K-Lite codecs pack, or CCCP.

I was using VLC, the codecs were find... it turns out i needed to set the Region of the DVD drive

Did you just buy/get it or did you have a corruption issue that cause it to change region? Because if you just got it and said so, someone might of picked that up for you sooner.
