All,
I just upgraded my E14 1050 with an SSD and replaced DVD with the old HDD.
I reinstalled Windows, and am having problems with a few things.
1. I installed touchpad drivers, and the light showing the touchpad is off is on all the time, touchpad is working though.
2. eSata is not working anymore. Started working again after a few reboots.
3. I have 2 devices unrecognized in Device Manager:
PCI Simple communications controller (VEN_8086&DEV_3B64&SUBSYS_1436103C) - Fixed by installing Intel Management Engine.
Uknown device (HPQ0004) - HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ok.
the touchpad drivers issue happens usually when you use those beta drivers that let you do click anywhere.
..though sometimes it happens anyway.
Best solution is to uninstall touchpad drivers. Reinstall the original drivers that were in your swsetup folder that you hopefully saved.
otherwise find a suitably old set of drivers and then just update them. You want something pre "new touchpad options menu thing" otherwise you sometimes miss the bit that lets you tap to disable the touchpad (and thus the light is on forever)
the new touchpad option menu thing is that one that shows a big animated gif of the touchpad and how you tap/click/whatever when you choose the tapping or clicking options.
eSATA not working was probably the intel management engine not being installed (or some rapid storage issues or other ..I dunno. I never used eSATA)
3. is yeah the hdd shock sensor stuff that may not be necessary due to the ssd in the primary bay (not sure if there are sensors in the odd side of things)
it's in swsetup as HPHDPD or something. It is not in the drivers folder inside swsetup because that would make too much sense. -
I checked and indeed I had the latest drivers for TP. Will uninstall and get onlder ones. Maybe they will also have the option to disable the edges as it has been driving me nuts when it moves on its own by just holding the button area.

I think the version that has the advanced acm palm control stuff is version 15.1.6.64
or SP50661 on HP's driver's website. Which would be this link ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq//sp50501-51000/sp50661.exe
but yeah the initial drivers have the "tap to disable" and you have to install this one on top of that one to keep tap to disable from my experience. -
does this one allow to set an area where buttons are to be disabled as touchpad and can be used as buttons only? -

...kinda.
it lets you use the palmcheck-enhanced ACM which lets you specify a zone to restrict tapping and/or pointing. 'course it isn't a deadzone.
Basically if you tapped inside the zone/moved stuff inside the zone the area outside the zone is now fairgame.
It works well enough for me though. I have tapping and pointing restricted inside the zone, the filter activation time set to 0 and the zone setup how it is in that attachment.
Keep in mind that if you use reil's the palmcheck ACM zone does not stop reil's from double/triple tapping or two finger scrolling or whatever and becomes kinda worthless.Attached Files:
