    Hi,

I'm about to pull the trigger on an Envy 14 and I would like to hear from those out there using two external monitors with it.

I need two monitors for my work (running heavy statistical modeling packages, etc) and would like advice/suggestions on:

    1) What max resolution for each monitor can be supported by the 5650 if two external monitors are being used at the same time? 1920 x 1080?

    2) I'm trying to decide between two 25's or two 27's, any suggestions in terms of the right connections, mDVI/DVI,HDMI to match the offerings on the Envy 14?

people have used 'em. Or at least the first guy who got one did.

he went hdmi and minidisplay port, but I'm not sure how he did the minidisplay port, like if it was vga to minidisplay port or what. Sometimes it has issues with some cables/displays.

also you have to have the 5650 enabled to use the hdmi (and probably minidisplay port)

Two external monitors with the display still working?

    You'd need HDMI and MiniDisplayport.

The former only allows up to 1920 x 1200 on the 5650.

The latter will only work as a third display if you have a DisplayPort capable monitor OR if you use an active displayPort to X converter. However, unlike HDMI you can go up to 2560 x 1600.

The max resolution is decided by the external screen instead of the notebook.
And you can use HDMI to match the offerings on the Envy 14.

I just want the two external monitors, I don't need the third one (envy's) on.
