Now that we have a choice, I was wondering if the Radiance was worth the extra 200 bucks. I'm not going to use this for games (have a PS3 for that) as much as I will for CAD and ArcGIS, is it such a big difference that I will be kicking myself for the next 3-5 years if I don't get the 900p screen?

Well, have you used a laptop with a 1366x768 screen?

I found on a 15.6" panel that 1366x768 was inadequate. After using a 1366x768 panel on a Vostro 3400 (14" notebook), it wasn't that bad, but I did notice that it was lacking in pixel real estate (I had to do a lot of scrolling when web browsing) compared to my 1680x1050 desktop LCD.

Is it worth $200? I'm not sure. I'd probably go for it, had I not already ordered mine when it was included in the base price.

Personally, I really want the 1600x900 screen. So I hope I'll be happy with my purchase.

The screen is beautiful. My wife is a Geologist, and whenever she needs to use ArcGIS, she takes my envy14 and I get stuck with her fujitsu tablet. :p

Conversely, I don't really need all the power the Envy has. I chose the E14 over other much lighter/portable/thinner/cheaper/better battery life options solely because of the screen. I'm not disappointed. The screen is fantastic.

Thanks to all the peer pressure, I ordered the Envy 14 with the Radiance screen. Spent last night explaining to my girlfriend why I spent so much money on a laptop and haven't gotten her a ring yet. Priorities. :D

Same here. For me, there really wasn't any other reason to get an Envy over even HP's other offerings.

What about us UK buyers. Do we just get the non-radiance screen to avoid the hassle of importing and warranty issues? Or will i be kicking myself in years to come?

Would it not be possible to buy a screen separately later on and have it installed?

Slightly off topic, but how does it compare to the Envy 15's 1080p screen?

Bah, rings are old old tech and a diamond lasts forever, so what's another few months, years, before she gets one?

Laptop tech on the other hand, will be obsolete in a year, and only last a few... she must be missing the obvious. :p
