no. that works for both.
we just can't mess with the voltage like they can on the i7 (or whatever else you can do in amd gpu clock tool)

After installing MSI Afterburner, I went to change my clocks, but when I did and hit apply, it just reset my clocks back to default without acknowledging my changes. What am I missing?

ah.
alright. -
Can anyone go on Starcraft 2 and play on ultra then tell me what fps they get?
Thanks -
Has anyone tried this or wants to? It's a guide on changing the BIOS so that it can be unpacked using Phoenix Editor and then opened with RBE BIOS Editor to increase the voltage etc. Link: http://forums.mydigitallife.info/th...-can-t-be-opened-with-ezh2o?p=96953#post96953
I tried it myself but it's too complicated for me to understand. I'm not computer-smart enough -
owners with i7 ... what are your temps when gaming ? i played bc2 and temps reached up to 75-80 degree . is it at a dangerous level ?
my idles at 60 degrees
due to prolong use , will it fry the cpu or shorten the life of the laptop ? -
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
dangerous levels are the 90s.
you're fine. -
even when the metal chassis feels freaking hot near the vent and the bottom ?
wont the internals get fried ? 80 + degrees is hot !!
magus whats ur temps on the i5 when playing bfbc2 ? -
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
80 is well within normal operating temperatures.
it's 90+ that things get too hot.
also my temps for sc2 are around the low 80s.
I just keep my hands away from that vent. -
Hello everyone!
This is my first post here. And of course I am only writing when I need something from you guys...
My problem is: I just bought C&C 3 and I can only get audio from the internal speakers. Every other program gives me sound through my headphones. But when C&C 3 starts my headphones go silent.
And if I need to install drivers where can these be found? -
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
this is an issue with some games and the idt (beats) audio control panel since well...it technically has a few speakers all at the same time.
it's making a mistake.
maybe try to disable the independent headphones (it'll disable the rear headphone jack).
it may be defaulting to that one when it looks for your headphones and well...that's breaking things.
SC2 gets this issue if you set the voice chat's listening device to independent headphones (sc2 lets you pick and choose)
so go right click on the sound speaker icon on the taskbar, click playback devices, right click on independent headphones and pick disable.
see how that works. -
Issue solved! Thank you!
Now I have another, more serious one.
Why can't everything just work? And why is HP support sooooo bad?
Eric -
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
well.
this is more an idt sound issue.
it happens with other computers that have that card. so...whelp.
glad it worked though. -
i asked this before but i think it got lost
okay well i ordered the hp envy beats edition with the 460m proc will it be able to handle dragon age origins on max settings planing on getting the ultimate edition -
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
yes, or close enough to max settings. game isn't thaaat demanding.
-
just wanted to make sure because the most powerful computer have had is a netbook so was not sure

My computer keeps crashing playing steam games like team fortress 2 and left 4 dead 2. I have my computer linked up with an hdmi cable to dvi, and the envy screen will get vertical green lines and the old 20 inch lcd says out of frequence. I'm using catalyst 10.6 and currently using msi afterburner at 500/800. Does this happen with anyone else?
-
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
is it crashing at stock (450/800)?
'cause it could be 500/800 is too much for your vid card.
the amount you can OC it varies from card to card. -
Well I haven't tried but all games run super slow then if I don't. It's not fair that mine is that ty
-
I think it still crashed without an overclock though.
-
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
hmmm....out of frequency?
Maybe you're running the tv at the wrong refresh rate. -
I was thinking tha maybe because it is an old lcd computer monitor, maybe the hdmi is screwing up the screen. But the game audio gets stuck. I don't think that would screw up if the screen screwed up. I bought a mini dvi hoping to solve the problem but realized it's mini display port ;(
-
My screen says 65.3Khz/60Hz. I'm not really sure whats wrong. I'll try playing with no overclock but do you think it's because of catalyst 10.6?
Edit*
Oh and I can't even change the refresh rate on the monitor itself -
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
ok. quick question.
are the lines on the monitor or the envy laptop's lcd screen.
also there's a chance that yeah it's the catalyst 10.6 drivers being weird.
I'm on 10.8 (but don't use an external lcd) and don't have any problems. -
The green lines are on the envy screen. And sometimes they are white lines, and sometimes they are all rainbow line colors cross hatched
-
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
oh.
ok.
that sounds like a video card being bad. -
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
I mean there's a slim possibility that it's a videobios issue like with he asus g73s and any ati driver above...whatever came with the asus g73s that had this issue, but since none of the other envy14s have had that sorta driver + videobios conflict....
it's probably your video card -
, then what do I do?
-
The weird thing is that it doesn't crash with starcraft II either. I can overclock it to 650 by 800
-
Where did you download 10.8 catalyst?
Edit*
Nevermind I went to ati. Which one did you choose the CCC or the suite? -
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
so it doesnt crash with starcraft 2.
but does on source engine games..
hmmm.
that's weird.
https://a248.e.akamai.net/f/674/920...mobile/10-8_mobility_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc.exe there's 10.8 btw
I mean if it is only crashing on source engine games maybe it's something else. -
Thanks man, I appreciate it.
I just ordered a mini display port, hopefully it's a problem with the monitor and not my computer. I just hate how it crashes. I feel bad for my little envy.
I love this ocmputer to death but I need to play source games -
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
well. a random google search has given me some anecdotal evidence where 10.6 + source engine = performance goes down the tubes.
so try out 10.8 -
Fat Dragon Just this guy, you know?
Gonna give this another go:
STALKER: Call of Pripyat hangs for me, a lot. It's not like it's running poorly, but it runs just fine for a few seconds, then the image and sound stop completely for a couple minutes, wash, rinse, repeat. Someone on the Steam Forums suggested running in DX9 mode (I was foolish enough to try DX11 at first), and that shortened the hangtimes, but it still does the same thing in DX9 mode.
If I were getting poor FPS, I would just try lowering the settings, which are maybe a little above medium, but it's not an FPS issue, the game just stops, and that doesn't seem like it would be a settings issue unless there's one particular setting that can cause the game to hang up like that. The other suggestion on the Steam forum was that it might be due to laptop GPUs being "unsupported" by the game's engine, but that seems fairly unlikely, since regular driver updates and the standardization of DirectX have pretty much done "unsupported" video cards in.
Anyway, anyone else have any experience running CoP on the Envy 14? -
Thanks for the support! Yeah I will try and figure this out. My fps runs beautifully running at 500/800. at 1440/900. I have a 16 by 10 monitor. It would be such a shame if I can't overclock. We will see if 10.8 helps.

I can blame many things.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat Stuttering Problem Thread | Video Game Online Forums & Community | Game Platform Discussions for Video Games - GameTrailers.com
this thread eventually lists 'em off like this:
1. EAX stuff
2. Vsync being on.
3. CoP's giant textures and crap, lower settings or view distance, and af and aa and stuff. and a few other things.
4. pre-fetch stuff (there's a mod for that on the steam pages)
5. too many textures, not good enough video card ram again (actually a pretty good possibility)
6. stalker is optimized kinda badly still even though CoP is better. -
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
oh right.
7. 64-bit OS. 'cause yeah. stalker is buggy at times. no matter what game. -
Fat Dragon Just this guy, you know?
-
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
So right.
Dead space. really awesome.
runs well enough on the envy 14.
sure there's mad mad screen tearing with some of the lights and stuff (and that's annoying) but besides that it runs nice at whatever it defaults at.
just turn of vsync since dead space's vsync is broken horribly.
also. the CC's force vsync stuff doesn't work. -
Anyone that has tried this care to report?
Mobility 10.9 Modded INF Win7 64 - Guru3D.com Forums -
Does anyone know what I can do to prevent C&C 3 from crashing a few minutes into gameplay? I have an i7 720 with 6GB of memory. And I use Steam to play the game.
And should I change the standard settings of the GPU at all?
Eric -
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
well make sure it's updated all the way.
bump shaders down to medium.
what sort of crash are you getting?
