As I understand, only radiance displays have the red/orange color issue. I might be buying an ENVY 15, and was wondering, would you prefer a normal 1366x768 display with normal color displays or the 1080p radiance display with the color problem?

Definitely the 1080p with red/orange issues. There's a strong chance that the 1366x768 display has a worse color gamut anyway, though it may not be as obvious to the eye.
Moreover, you'd be getting better contrast, deeper blacks, obviously better viewing angles, smoother grayscale, larger resolution, etc etc with the Radiance display. Even with the red issue, the Envy 15's display is very impressive to use, while the 1366x768 panel will look like any other laptop's and is arguably too low for a 15.6" screen.
Also note that people respond very differently to the red/orange issue. For some, it's not a big deal, but for others it justifies a return. It's something you should try to see at a Bestbuy or someplace before buying.
For a thorough review of the display, take a look at Anandtech's review of the Sony VAIO SE, which uses the same IPS panel as the Envy 15.

Also consider waiting for the Envy 15 refresh or other Ivy Bridge laptops to be released soon. BothSony and HP have heard tons of complaints about the poor gamut of that particular IPS panel, so we can expect the issue to be solved with a TN panel or a better IPS panel in the Ivy Bridge update. No one's certain when exactly HP will update the Envy, but probably before fall.

I found that the 1080p screen, require to increase the text dpi to 125% or 150% as it is too small ... the drawback is when launching game, seems need to revert it back to 100% in order for the mouse pointer to be able to work properly, if not the mouse pointer will stuck in the lower left middle portion of the screen. However, reverting/changing back the text dpi require you to logoff (not reboot) on current user session.

If this is not to be a much issue ... then go for 1080p, otherwise perhaps the 1366x768 is the only good option for current envy 15.

by the way, talking about the current ips screen, i found that the one i have right now (for over a week), the ips screen seems distorted toward the edge (especially around proximity sensor) so that reflection on my face become distorted ... anybody has the same issue ? considering got the replacement if nobody has same issue like mine did.

Once you get used to a 1080p display, you can never ever go back to 1366x768.

True. Everytime I switch from my 1080p envy to my 1366x768 work laptop, everything on the screen feels so huge that it is eating up my workspace.
