This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    ENVY 15-3XXX - no 5.1 sound?

    So I installed a fresh copy of win7 about a month ago and reinstalled the drivers from SWBOOT or whatever the directory was called. Used the speakers today and can't really tell if I'm just getting sound from the front two speakers? I remember it sounding more impressive out of the box, but it could just be placebo I guess...

    Control panel>>Sound>>Playback tab>>Highlight IDT High Def. Audio Codec>>Configure = Only one option for speaker configuration (stereo)

    Inside the Beats Audio GUI I have "beats audio" checked...
