    Does the ENVY 17 (2xxx) series have same heat issues as series 1xxx or have things improved?

    Any unsatisfied customers or is this the best 17 inch 1080p laptop out there?

    The Sandy Bridge series 2xxx are a whole different world from the first generation. Heat issues are a thing of the past, indeed! I know that you may not be interested in the Envy 17 3D, but when you configure...it has always been a better value than the vanilla Envy 17. Double check...but for less...you get the 120 Hz panel and shutter glasses...It is a great monitor...

    Check out my earlier post regarding the Envy 17" (non 3D) temps my is running at;

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-...xxx-series-owners-lounge-627.html#post7911830

    I did further testing the following night and it didn't seem to effect the temps at all with it maxxing out around 62-63C. After awhile I was noticing the higher Temps (~63C) while playing Diablo II than any other game of mine. I think it is because of Diablo II not offering VSync to keep my card from over-preforming. My average WoW temps are 54-57C.

    These temps were also from using the 9Cell battery for an extra lift to give better air intake.

    Ok thanks guys. The 1xxx I had got so hot it puts me off buying another HP but I cannot find anything else on market now I like, so I will go for another ENVY17 2070NR as it looks great. I don't need 3D.

    I bought the original ENVY17 1011NR last yr. Never gamed on it or even used the BRay. Just a normal days office work and it overheated until the GPU faltered two months over the 1yr warranty. HP service out of warranty sucks raw eggs, I've now got an ENVY17 1011NR brick.
