Wonder how much it would have cost HP to put in a chipset that would have supported Raid 0 and SATA 3 on both?

Anyhow a quick run. Known to be speedy, put in two Corsair GT drives.

First pic is of Drive 1, then Drive 2. and just for giggle, the 7200rpm Hitachi drive in pic 3.

Think I will move the 2nd Corsair to another machine in the house and go with a 120gb mSata drive for boot and programs leaving Drive 1 Corsair for my media files. Also noticed a nice 240gb mSata drive available with good reviews.

You could put some of the blame on HP, though most of it should be on Intel.

The Envy has the HM76 chipset and the DV7 has the HM77 chipset. They're close to identical, as they support 6 SATA ports, four of them as SATA II and two of them as SATA III. HM77 has SRT caching where HM76 doesn't.

HP is to blame that they're using the 2 SATA III ports for the mSATA port and one of the two 2.5" HDD bays.

Crucial is bringing the M4 to a mSATA size, though it's not released yet. According to Crucial, it should be released shortly, maybe 2-3 weeks from the rep I spoke with.

    Review of it here:
Crucial m4 256GB mSATA SSD Review

Will come in sizes up to 256GB.

It's also out of stock at NewEgg and they were supposed to get stock on Friday.
