so, i succeeded very well in installing a fresh copy of win 7 ultimate on the envy 17 3d (1195ea), but theres one device left i cannot find any driver for - the wireless adapter.

    the device id is:
    PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4353&SUBSYS_1510103C&REV_01

this broadcom wireless adapter is part of the BCM943224HMB wlan-bluetooth combo pcie card.

    so...
on the only hp driver support page for my notebook model (1195ea), namely the one from GB, there is only a broadcom bluetooth driver available, but no broadcom wireless driver (but 2 intel pro set drivers, although theres obviously no intel wifi card present in this envy model..).

any ideas how to get the right driver?
i tried the official broadcom page, but havent found anything. now the only thing i could do is try to install a driver from one of these driver pages, but this is probably gonna be a driver for a different notebook model, so i am not that confident in doing so...

    thanks!

PS: my 5850m's clocks are 500/900 - am i a lucky one with a higher-clocked resp. less underclocked gpu, or do the envies vary between 425/900 & 500/900?

necrophyte, sorry that you had to bump this thread a couple times. Guess no one really knows this exact issue. Well, you should now utilize what our premium laptop comes with... "premium support" Give the ENVY tech a call...I would say there is a high % of solution. I hope.

i already did twice... called the hp consumer products support and first told them that theres only one driver support page for my specific envy model (envy 17 3d 1195ea - xe532ea), and then that on this only available support page (the one from the UK) that there is no broadcom wireless driver listed, but only the right broadcom bluetooth driver.. instead only intel PROset wlan drivers, although theres no intel wifi card inside that envy.

take a look >>> Software & Driver Downloads HP ENVY 17-1195ea Notebook PC - HP technical support (United Kingdom - English)

is there another, "special" premium support for the envy 17 3d?

well, first they told me that the model seems to be too new, and i should just wait until the support pages get updated. then they just said they were gonna forward the issue to the people administering the support pages.

 HP consumer products support? No, I meant literally HP Envy support. It seems not many people are aware that the Envy 17, Envy 17 3D, and the HDX models get special support. I kick myself everytime someone asks for the number since I returned my unit I never wrote it down, but you can find the number on the back of the glossy black rectangular slip in the original box that says thank you for purchasing an Envy. The special number is on the back of this glossy insert. Good luck. Envy support is based in America, not India.

    WOW thanks!

im gonna give them a call then.
i called the local consumer support (austria), but they dont seem to know a lot about their own local hp support pages, and even less the hardware built inside their consumer products and their resp. drivers.

well, business support is definitely better.. the same as business products are real premium products compared to the consumer products.

but i have to say that i am very very very satisfied with the envy so far. cant compare it to the other hp consumer products. only downside being a small design flaw - the AC jack being on the right side where it sometimes blocks my mouse wire, which is extremely annoying while playing cs:s..

    hmmmmm....

seems that this envy premium support is only available in the US.

i have several matte black papers, and one glossy, which is a folder with the quick setup instructions, but none has got a phone number or a "thank you for purchasing an envy" note.. theres also a black envelope, but there are just white warranty papers and all the worldwide hp support phone numbers, but no envy support :/

Hmmm, well, yes its US support. I hope someone can post the Envy support number for you. Guess you'll have to make a long distance call.

yeah, that would be great. i really would like to call the u.s. support and tell them about that envy driver pages mess, since i think the european guys dont even seem to know what im really talking about.. else im simply gonna write them an email and send a copy to a hp product director i once talked to here in austria; maybe he will contact the responsible guys when being confronted with this issue.
