    Hi :)

I'm thinking of purchasing an ENVY 17, but all the negative overheating reviews are kind of frightning... as I would be using it for 3D modeling/Photoshoping and heavy gaming it's important for me.
Somewhere someone noted that the latest BIOS update fixed his overheating problems.
    Can anyone else confirm this?

It has reduced temperatures across the board because of how the fan is run now. It has also dropped the GPU memory timings by 100MHz. This can be changed back to the original AMD cited speeds by using an overclocking tool.

    Hi,

I just had the Envy 17 delivered yesterday by HP I got the 1190ea model, as this was the latest one.

I thought that any previous heat issues would have been resolved. But, when I installed Oblivion Elder Scrolls on it and played for 10 mins it got seriously hot around the top left corner and the fan grate at the side was too hot to put my hand against.

When I switched on the laptop today there was updates ready from HP which I installed and seemed to have helped a bit but it still gets very warm.

Should I send it back and get another model ?
