What are you serious, My 21 Day return policy end today the 8th. Wow it sucks for me...
-
(btw this is kinda of an extra post so i can subscribe to it)
-
Finally!.... I can unleash the Benjamins... Most likely won't be until June though.
-
wow, good thing to hear. I have been waiting for this long long times.

THANK YOU HP
at last, the envy 17 comes with the power it is supposed to have (although they really could have used the 7870m instead of the 7850m) -
Very true necrophyte. Its both power and style, not just style. I want a lady that plays as nice as she looks

God dammit, I got the Envy 17-2290NR for Christmas and I'm left with an almost burnt 6850M...
-
Well, looking nice so far...
hopefully HP can confirm this soon...
Though, i dont like my chances of HP selling this in Australia... -
! Finally some good news!!!
-
Finally. I have been waiting for this since December but dissappointed in the GFX at 7850. Only 128 bits was hoping for the 7970m. I hope they give us the option to customize and choose the higher end GFX cards. Make it happen HP!! and make the Envy laptop back on top to be the best. Any idea when we can place orders and if anyone has any coupons please list.
Thanks for the update -
Jesus what kinda games are yall playing that need that much power? And wouldn't it just increase the heat of the laptop by a lot?
Anyways glad to hear the new whispers/hints of the upcoming Envy. I'm surprised at how easy its been for me to wait this long for it. Guess it helps that I was studying for other stuff and avoided this site and all its distractions.... -
First and foremost, what I care about most is being able to play Starcraft 2 maxed out with full res and no hiccups. It seems like the 7850m should do the trick
-
I've just been around this forum for a while so it seems like we have same issue each time a refresh is announced.... -
Now if only they could put the 7850M in the Envy 15 and make it roughly on par with something like the Lenovo y580 or Asus g55, I would instantly buy this.
-
Awesome i was waiting for this refresh! I do hope for 7870m tho
-
I have been waiting for this refresh for monthssss, finally its near. The 7850 is already a surprise to me, definitely not complaining, but the 7870 would be nice
-
Looking good!
-
Here's the big question..... Will it play crysis(2)? Lmao

I am wondering if they will touch the external design or if its going to be be exactly the same like the current 3XXX series, with different internals (Ivy Bridge and 7850).
-
since they belong to the same line (17-3000), there almost certainly wont be any exterior design changes, just hardware upgrades.
why i mentioned the 7870m was because now that the heat issues are (hopefully) solved, there is no need to take the lower 7800m gpu. especially since the 7850 & 7870 differ in more than just clocks. 128bit doesnt really matter that much as long as its GDDR5. 256bit would be far more expensive and is only limited to top-end gpus.
with the 17-1000s it was a different story as they got baked as soon as one started gaming because of the bad cooling design, so mobility radeon 5850 was actually "too much" already. but now theres plenty of room (thermally) to have a more powerful gpu inside the envy 17-3000.
however, a 7900m would be too much (it would also boost the price of the envy 17 noticeably!), im afraid, unless being heavily downclocked, which then rises legitimate anger because of having paid a price for something that doesnt deliver the performance it should. note that the 7970m is 2x the hardware specs of the 7870m, except for the memory. -
dont get your hopes up on the 7970m in an envy... i highly highly doubt its gonna happen that card goes in big bulky gaming laptops. the 7870m might be closer tho :S im mainly concerned about the envy 15 and hopefully a 7850m
-
I think they will change the design...or at least its my hope....

Jstr_MSFT said: ↑I thoroughly liked the etched metal lid on the 2XXX series, the plain black is too.... well plain for my liking especially when its over $2k without discounts with customization; at least they keep the illuminated logo haha. Not to mention that a design change would inadvertently alter the cooling of the notebook. Same design, updated heart and soul is best imo...Click to expand...

Why is everyone so gaga about something only a rare few will actually see a big difference based on what you do with your laptop? Most users will not notice. This is why Apple may sell lower configured computers, but the software is so buttoned down, that they look at how the whole package functions together and don't need to worry about the tweeks people make.
If you want things like sdd's, or hybrids, or lots of memory, you can buy low and make changes. When one does that, and many do, so many post about the difficulties with the changes they are making. Or wait for a 33% off coupon and get it the way you want it. You will be happier in the end and not fighting to reconfigure what had already been set up. -
dzier217 said: ↑The already published maintenance book that is tagged at the beginning of this thread shows the design is the same. Designs for laptops hang around for about a year these days, so HP most likely had that in mind when they released this in Dec 2011. The new Envy 4 and 6 will also get ivy bridge, but order today and it does not. It makes sense to me to not release every line as new when a chip comes out, so it gives opportunity to do updates on a schedule. I have a 17 3D (march) and I just got a 17. I might return the second for an ivy bridge if it comes out quick enough (next 2 weeks in my 21 days), but that laptop is only to manage my music. The i5, 8 GB 1600 memory, and the 300 GB sdd hard drive is blazing fast, and ivy bridge will not make a dent in the performance for what I do with it. Plus I never hear the fan running at all. I do more with the 3D, so the fan runs every now and then, but quiet.

Yeah, I have a hdx, so which ever envy doesn't matter to me, just need a upgrade...whichever has the sickest gpu!
-
Just read this, dang I was hoping for nvidia. Like the gtx 660m.
-
Has anyone else noticed the complete redesign of the HP home and office online store?....
-
i like it makes hp look alittle more upto date
does seem alittle dark tho
-
Depending on clocks, the 7850M/7870M could be very close to the 6970M in performance, as the 7770 equals the 6850 in quite a few games.
-
When is HP going to finally release these?
I had a Envy 17-3000 3D for a couple of weeks back in January, but it had a couple of minor issues so I did the 21 day return and was waiting for the new update to the Envy 17 so I could get the non-3D with the updated processor and graphics. -
Hop in line and wait... I'd camp outside Corp HQ if I could.... Then pester every employee I saw

Out of stock in Canada, over 900 sold @ $2100(tax's in),,,,,,Do the math!!!
No CTO's available (USA) on the 17-30xx, end of product series .
Next release of the ENVY line is the 32xx series.
They will be available August +/- (?), when all the other new electronics are put out for sale. Typical end of season - new release in time for Christmas thing.
2 People at HP have told me this, 1st is my customer service rep at the escalation team, 2nd was a phone call to a sales person at HP.ca
This is for Canadian HP.ca customers, other countries differ, get on the phone and make some calls................ -

Certainly hope USA doesn't have to wait until August... Sorry Canada

I'm sitting tight and will send a nasty message to the CEO if they become available in the USA and there is a delay here in Canada.
Its been 6 weeks that I've gone without my notebook!
I would settle for a EliteBook Workstation 8760W XU100UT HP EliteBook 8760w Mobile Workstation (ENERGY STAR) (XU100UT) specifications - HP Products and Services Products
BUT.......
All the stock is sold down, and nothing will be in until the new products arrive.

This is the transcript from a chat with Nick from HPShopping.ca.
Oddly enough, my Customer Service Rep from the escalation team hasn't called, or sent me an email regarding new stock!
This is typical for HP, poor internal structure,,,,,if they paid their service reps more than minimum wage and part time with no benefits, maybe they would care, or even do there job, not just show up for work and expect a paycheck.
As for the "Launch new products this summer",,,,,,its that way every year, the electronics show is in March, products are seen 3-4 months later.
This is somewhat BS as the CTO DV7's have the 3rd gen i7 in them: http://www.shopping.hp.com/en_US/ho...t-7000-Quad-Edition-Entertainment-Notebook-PC and this means it will also have the new Intel HM76 chipset in it.
Maybe their just waiting a bit, to see if any of the DV7's blow up, before they put the new chips in the ENVY..................
>>>>EDIT<<<<
I just called the 1-800 and spoke to Chelsea,,,
3090NR's are still in production, no info on the 32xx release date,,,,some time this summer(?).
The 1-800 goes to a HP call center in Boise Idaho.
Sorry USA...you'll have to wait just like Canada, and the rest of us. -
According to the screenshot you were asking about a specific model. If you buy a customized version that's not necessarily the correct model number

I was sort of surprised to see the refreshed DV line be included in the coupon if the only reason was to sell down the stock. I don't believe anyone know for sure IMHO.
