In case others decide to proceed with similar. Have it up and running, works OK for the most part. Speedy for sure. Couple of things.

Switchable graphics not working. Tried combination of new drivers/CCC,etc to no prevail. Cannot even enable the 7850M.

Beat audio, etc all work great. Just downloaded W7 drivers from the HP website. Keyboard was having significant issues however until I installed the touchpad driver.

Intel Rapid Storage does not work.
Have not yet worked on the HP screen displays for audio button and numlock.

So far working out pretty decent other than the video issue.

FYI, as someone always wants to preach online, for those, I am aware that HP does not yet support W8 and I realize that W8 is still a preview beta.

    Doing it just for Giggles.

Correct, HD4000. Have not been able to get it to run on the 7850M at all.

Do you have the Envy 3D model?
I'm not sure what " HP Envy 17-III" means.

I am having the same problem with my graphics card. I have the HP Envy 17-3270NR, and my AMD Radeon HD 7850M graphics card will not activate. HP has been no help in getting this fixed. Have you found any fix with this?

Also, I am trying to dual boot Windows 8 and Windows 7. I created an 80gb partition for Win 8, but apparently Windows partition manager created dynamic disk partitions. When I go to install Win8, it says that I must install on a basic disc. Did I partition my HD incorrectly, or does HP force me to use these dynamic partitions? Does anyone have feedback on how I can partition my disc differently on the Envy 3270nr?

Can someone help me with this problem. I'm trying to dual boot Windows 8 just to try it out and see if I like it enough to make the switch. I want it to go on my SSD. When I go into Disk Management to create a 25GB Partition it wont let me. I have over 50GB free on my SSD. I can only create a 3GB partition. I'm not sure whats going on here... Any advice...
