I just watched the envy 14 youtube video again and looked at the german unboxing pics. What's up with HP making the envys all have weak maximum screen angles? It doesn't look like it's any better than the 15. I have the envy 15 with me now and it's borderline tolerable/annoying. I'm not a tall guy, but I have to slouch or push it further away than I'm used too. Yes the screen has good viewing angles, but I shouldn't have to look at it from above. I really really want to love the envy, but it just won't let me.

My horrible-build-quality asus v1s opens to 180 degrees. No make that ~200 degrees (i just checked again). I love being able to see it while standing up. I can't believe more people aren't complaining about this major design flaw.

Has anyone tried opening up an envy 15 casing and removing whatever is limiting those few extra degrees?

Yeah im not really sure what they were thinking when they did that. Terrible design flaw indeed. I hope the envy 14 is better. It looks like it may be a bit better.

Envy 14 is about 135 degrees, not the best, but definitely manageable.

Thanks Ademmer. That definitely is about 10-20 degrees more than the 15. I'll take side-by-side pics when I get my 14 in.

Its still sad that this may be the only reason i keep the 14 over the 15

well to get more than that you need to change the design of the lif and of the hinges, and seriously i use a notebook for work and entertainment do... its with when I wake to when I go to sleep, I rarely use more than a few degrees past 90

I have a 15 and find the screen angle limit to be a significant PiTA. 10-20 degrees more would be wonderful.

I had both the 15 and now the 14. The 14 definitely opens up wider than the 15 by a noticeable, useful amount. Definitely wide enough for me now, but I'm only 5'10."
