    HI,
This topic should probably belong to the museum...
I got a quite old EVO N115 notebook with Athlon CPU. It has a Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-C2502 drive. It's not a modular drive.
    And my warranty has expired.
Q1. Is it easy to replace it myself?

It costs about US$90. I need it to be fixed in order to sell it for US$400.
Q2. What other alternatives do I have?

    thanks.

Sorry guys, I posted the Q too soon.
I found the new spare part on Ebay on bought it for $50 + $18 shipping.
Not sure how to change it though, but I don't think it's that difficult. Once again, sorry for the post.

Does anyone know whether it's possible to replace the current DVD-ROM drive with a CD-writer, or perhaps a DVD-writer?

Is it most internal notebook drives are standard, and so I will have no problem at all?

It was trivial to replace the optical drive in my zv5000z. If you can figure out how to remove your existing drive, sliding in a new one should be easy. HP likes to use non-standard bezels but that's just a cosmetic difference. See ultradrives.com and newegg.com for notebook (slimline) burners. I've bought from both.
