I tried to create a systems repair disc on my laptop and it appears my drive somehow is locked and will not release.

I tried a restore and everything I can think of but I can not get this disc to eject

    I would appreciate any ideas

    Thanks

PS. Other than that the laptop works fine

You probably already tried this but with the laptop turned on, in Computer, right click on the DVD device ICON and select eject.

Assuming that the above does not work, with the laptop powered off, there is a small hole next to the DVD tray open button. Use a paperclip, insert it into the hole, and gently push against the mechanical release. Maybe when you get the DVD that is in the tray out things will work once more. Lets hope it is a problem with the DVD and not the drive.

If the DVD drive does not work as expected after your get the DVD out go to Device Manager, right click on the DVD/CD-ROM drive and Uninstall it. Reboot your computer and let windows rediscover the Drive (New Hardware). If it doesn't work after that you may have a problem with the eject mechanism or the drive.
