I got my DV6-6198 today over the mail, and to my surprise I find it almost impossible to use due to the metal palmrest shocking me, nothing TOO painful but certainly distracting and annoying. At first I assumed it was just me being a stranger to the material, but I became more and more convinced I was being shocked, especially when I tried to run the laptop on batery alone and the electric feeling went away almost completely. After this, I ran across http://forum.notebookreview.com/sony/45008-sony-sz-110-120-brushed-metal-finish-electric-shock-tingle-palmrest.html which showed me I wasn't a unique case after all. Thing is, I love the damn lappy so much I don't want to return it, especially with no guarantee of it being fixed or probably taking a long time.

So, what I'm asking you is if anyone else feels the same as I do, how you fixed it, if maybe mine is just a defective unit, etc. Also, does anyone know where I could buy a 3-pin adapter for this unit (as that seems to have fixed most units on the other thread?).

    Please help!

well I have never experienced this phenomena but I assume some electrical contact is touching some part of the metal case. Of course I would get a multi-meter and check for sure that there really is an electrical charge flowing through the case. I would check around the power port area for problems. If your under warranty then you should return it. If not, then take it apart and find out what the problem is. I have never heard of this happening but a quick fix would be finding some thin rubber material and covering the palm rest with it so as to insulate against the electrical charge. You might be able to use material such as this: Egrips Non-Slip Strips - Consumer & Promotional Products for Mobile Phones - Silicone Grip Material | Information

    Hi faekplastik3s,
I dont have a fix to recommend but you mentioned you just received this unit in the mail. I would recommend contacting HP. If you need any assistance in doing so please email me your product and contact information to [email protected]. Please include in the subject line Attn: Veronica-NBR.
