The 8530p/w seems to use the same bios with a type II MXM slot. In the past, it seems that although the slots are not proprietary, HP locks the Bios so that mix and match is not possible for display cards. However, since the 8530P and W seems to use the same mainboard and Bios (revision, size, update date, are all the same), would it be possible to swap out the Quadro FX770M with the Radeon HD 3650 or even the NVidia 9600m GT?

Anyone with experience and success with the Elitebooks or prior 85XX p/w series?

I heard the 8530w has a type III mxm slot, which allows for a FX770 with 35W TDP. FX770=9600m GT DDR3. Why would you swap for a weaker or equal card?
