I am hoping some disk imaging veterans can help me out.[Might belong in the OS subforum??]

My school recommends[read: buy from them] the FM877ut spec 8530w at 1799.
However looking around online, for less I can buy at FM890UA spec'd 8530w.

Do think a "perfect install" disk image from the school's fm887ut will boot without problem on the fm890ua 'book?

To abrievate, the only differences I can see is the Webcam, a T9600 C2 duo and 4 gb ram vs t8600 C2 Duo and 2gb ram.

Thank you in advance for any insight,
    Alex

Should be fine. They use the same chipset (PM45 Express) so you shouldn't run into any major problems. I've imaged hundreds of computers over the years and chipsets are always the biggest problem, unless you use special software to inject drivers, customize sysprep, etc.

Theelectic, big thanks for the reassurance. Yeah I thought the chipset was the key thing.
btw, its kinda funny in hindsight as the head of IT was saying it might bluescreen and I'd be sool, but I think hes a mac guy hahaha
besides he'd rather I bought from the school [im saving $400 despite the higher spec]

And another question to anyone, all of Hp's 3yr business international warranties are also "on-site" too?
Same head of IT was saying they would/could not offer support if I had a problem? not that I'm too worried about running in to issues I can't handle

    Thanks again
