Just wondering is envy 13 a great buy for $600 (it's a special deal I come across)?

    Specs as follow

    Intel Core 2 Duo SL9400
    13.1" 1366 x 768
    3GB DDR3
    250 GB 5400 rpm
4 cell battery + 6 cell sliced battery
    external dvd-writer

I've read some cons about slice battery might not be perfect fit sometimes, and battery life is not particular good (some people say good battery some say bad). Is there something I should consider before buying it? Or should I spend the money on somewhere else. I want a ultra portable laptop with good battery life and also more powerful than netbook. I won't be doing much gaming on it. Thanks.

EDIT: I will use it for office productivity and web browsing, and light VMWare Workstation.

Kind of would depend on what you want or need, which you didn't say much about.

from what I have read, the battery life on the Envy 13 is outstanding, especially with the slice battery. It's also extremely thin and portable, almost the dimensions of the MacBook Air. According to HP, with the slice battery it lasts "up to 18.75 hours" - manufacturers usually exaggerate battery life on their own websites, but even if it doesn't last 18 hours, I would it imagine it still lasts a pretty long time.

$600 is an absolute steal for an Envy 13 - a no-brainer unless you're looking at a used unit with a sketchy history. You're not likely to find a computer with the E13's skillset (or even particularly close) at that price point, so if you want a highly-portable, slick looking laptop with great battery life, then jump on this deal.

This, definitely. At $600, I would jump on a good condition Envy 13.

Hell, with the money left over compared to the price of my Envy 14, if I had that Envy 14 at $600 I'd have money left over to build a desktop for gaming.

The Brightview screen on the Envy 13 is probably much better than the Brightview on the Envy 14 (410 nits vs 220 nits) so with that in mind I would buy a 13 right away at that price.

The 1366x768 screen on the Envy 13 is Radiance, not Brightview, at least in the US.

My point is that its the same resolution as the Envy 14 but much brighter.

If you don't mind me asking, where did you find a price like that? It seems like a great deal! ;) The basic configuration is around $1050 online. Where can you get it at that price?

    Thanks.
