I think a certain user on here is now eating crow about how there's going to be no customization on the new Voodoo products![]()

The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
Looks professional
-
Yeah the 133's are customizable, no worries there.
We'll have the standard colours, et al, but custom ones, as you can see, are doable as well. -
-
I assume as we all do, it will be avaliable in the US and Can, however i was in contact with a voodoo rep ( well HP sales) and he confirmed it will be avaliable in UK only outside the US,so does that mean that it will be sold in the UK and not soldin the US- shipped to the UK- why I ask, I do't know the $1500 extra cost perhaps
if i get a HPlaptop from the US and have it shipped the cost is greater than getting the HP in the UK as taxes and shipping... -
We, at present are only localized to North America.
We will ship it to the UK with no worries, but it is subject to the VAT et al. -
Will voodoo be shipping internationally, such as to places like hong kong?
-
Yes, however the purchaser will still be responsible for all import taxes, or duty taxes.

Yeah and taxes are HIGH in UK so beware!!

Kaiserphoenix Notebook Evangelist
yeah good idea...
-
If it is as good as it looks then I am getting one.. that's what she said..

I would rather get a macbook air tho....
-
I hate apple, and I would rather get a macbook. It is clear that hp/voodoo is using apple parts/stealing/copying their manufacturing process.
I would not be surprised if Apple sues them for manufatcuring a laptop which not only looks like a macbook, but has the same streamlined figure and the same hinge.
If you took that M133 removed the voodoo sticker and put a mac sticker, it would be a macbook. All you have to do is put OSX on it.
It looks the same and you can see it in the port cutouts, hinge and overall figure of the laptop.
I wouldnt waste your time with a voodoo/hp you get more bang for the buck anywhere else.
yeah and I say this after investing $7500 into their company.
K-TRON -
HP hasn't stolen anything from Apple. They don't even look remotely similar. Quit posting inaccuracies because you hate that HP bought your beloved Voodoo. You said they weren't going to have any customization, either... you sure were right about that  -
How can you say they do not look similar. Have you looked at the pictures on rahul's blog. It looks like a black macbook.
I never said they would not be customizable, so stop putting words in my mouth.
K-TRON -
Its derived off of the Intel metro concept announced last year. The chassis is essentially the same with some changes...

Anyway. The Envy looks similar to a Macbook, considering they're both basically rectancles. That's about it. It's not exactly the same, obviously VooDoo is not "stealing their manufacturing process".
-
Investing $7500 really isn't that big of a deal. It certainly doesn't mean you should be treated like God. If you want that, go get a Vertu phone, buy a Roll-Royce and get your own concierge.
Oh, and buying a couple of notebooks from Voodoo doesn't necessarily mean you know everything about Voodoo or HP. Your responses here indicate your lack of knowledge about the PC industry in general. -

I think K-Tron is just frustrated that he has invested alot of money into a company and now this company has changed.
Now in my opinion, change is necessary for organizations all the time. The environment in terms of competition, customer base, demand etc are always changing and therefore it is only natural that voodoo needed to change to survive in this market.
In my opinion, I think the change was a good one. Since so many companies just rebrand Clevos and paint them and then charge a premium (voodoo being one of them) I think it is critical that Voodoo now comes up with their own chassis as a means of differentiation from competitors. In this sense Rahul went the right way in my opinion.
On the other hand, I do not associate Voodoo as a Lambourghini as Rahul does. He draws the analogy that HP = Audi, Voodoo = Lambourghini and once Audi bought lambo, lambo quality improved etcetc (refer to his blog).
However the "lambo" (voodoo) is using the same engines as any other pc (cpu, gpu) and therefore the difference can still be only drawn on the design of the case and tech support so in that sense the analogy is abit flawed.
I guess we will have to see how the voodoo team progresses, if their customer support is intact as before I think Rahul has a winner, if they went the other drection, well I dont know what will happen, they might have a larger customer base to more than offset the occasional disgruntled customer, we will see! -
Our tech support is still there and the team is larger now than it was before. (I had a small hand in that as I am the Service Lead.)
It can take some time to get new folks up to speed on older products, but I have always been directly accessible for these things. K-Tron knows this himself. He has contact me personally a few times. Hey how many other places have the head of their service department come out and say, "Here I am folks! Use and abuse me."
(Ok, go easy on the 'abuse' part.)

Hi iMaxx, im in Australia and thinking of getting a Voodoo Envy. THe only thing which is holding me back is how I will get it repaired if anything goes wrong with it.
Will I have to send it back to Canada or can HP in Australia look after it? -
(That and the shipping for warranty repairs is covered by us.) Faster if it is not customized.
At present, we don't have other shops anywhere that can handle our products, but this will change in time as volumes go up, I'm sure. -

Hi iMaxx would you know the size of the tubing in my Omen?? (i.e. the tube that carries the water) is it 1/2inch or 3/8?
Thanks! -
It's a 3/8 interior diameter with a 1/2 outer diameter. -
Kaiserphoenix Notebook Evangelist
iMaxx thanks for the reply, so if I want to change something, i would buy 3/8 fittings I suppose?
-
Also make sure they fit into blocks. If ya have the system drained, (Or you have new blocks.) bring the fittings with you to make sure the threads are the right size. (I am not sure of the thread size off the top of my head.) -
Kaiser,
most WC'd Blocks use G1/4 thread... (iMaxx can confirm this for ya)
i dont know what kind of clamps your Omen uses but you should buy some worm clamps to hold the tube over the fittings...
iirc, only thermochill radiators use G3/8 fittings... but i dont think Omen uses those..
as for barbs/fittings... D-Tek is very nice... but i hear BitsPower is real nice... big ID for better flow...
in the UK, there is a very nice watercooling mailorder site...

You didn't "invest" in a damn thing...you "purchases products" from a company...dont try and make yourself seem all high and mighty by using such words as "invest". You really are an interesting person. You travel the message boards near and far to spew hate about a computer company. All they do is make products and sell them with the intent of making of a profit. And you think this company owes you something because you spent $7500 on some goods from them? If i remember the old voodoo correctly, $7500 would get you maybe two products from them. I think I will write McDonalds a letters saying I am unhappy with the direction they are going with their new Southern Chicken Sandwich because I eat their Big Mac every other week. You are an idiot. -
I'm surprised you haven't been banned.
