I've tried researching but can't find a solution to a long-standing issue with my Envy 14.
The issue:
I have used HDMI output to my Samsung plasma since getting the notebook in December. Then, in March, the HDMI stopped working after disconnecting it from the TV to move it to another room.
Now, when I connect the HDMI port to the Envy, the computer recognizes the Samsung TV is connect but the Samsung TV gets no signal from the HDMI port when I try to do dual displays.
No matter what i tried - rebooting, disconnecting/reconnecting hdmi cable to computer or adjusting settings in Control Center - i could not get a signal. I have tried to different cables, and to make sure it wasn't the TV, i plugged the same HDMI cables into my Acer notebook and got a picture on the TV right away.
Also, after i used the Acer to get an HDMI signal, I left the tv source on HDMI 1, unplugged the cable from the Acer and plugged it into the Envy 14. I now have a picture output from my Envy but a message on my TV "Check signal cable".
If i switch off the HDMI source at this point, i cannot get back to it because the tv doesn't know it's getting a signal from the HP laptop.
What I've tried:
- New and Old Drivers (graphics and chipset)
- New and Old Bios Updates
- Returning computer to factory settings
Frustration:
Bought laptop in Canada, living in Central America and HP will not service it here, instead they insist I spend a bunch of money to ship it North.
On the HP Support Forums this is a very common issue for the Envy and other models. Some have managed to get their HDMI working 100% again through the methods I've tried - but I can't get any results.
Any more suggestions?

Did you make sure you have the right thing selected in the switchable graphics?

It's always on High Performance GPU when plugged in and I only use HDMI when plugged in. I see no other switchable graphics options.
