Hi. I really love my Envy 14, but I have one problem - the other day my grandfather wanted to show me something on a website I was browsing, and he used a pencil.

Unfortunately, it hit the screen in 3 places close to each other (his hand was shaking) and it looks like it did some damage to the screen - there are 3 gray spots, which can be seen mostly when browsing web pages (on a white background).Of course, it is not possible to remove then using a cleaning cloth.

It's not THAT bad, but I'm still thinking about replacing the plastic screen protector.

It's probably not covered under warranty (since it was my fault, not the hardware's). Even if it were, I bought the laptop in USA, and use it in Poland, where the warranty isn't applicable, AFAIK, and I don't want to ship it back.

The laptop isn't even officially available in Poland (there's only one UK import on our ebay's equivalent, allegro.pl).

What I think I have a best chance to accomplish it to send it to HP Repair Poland as soon as Envy 14 hits the polish shelves and pay them to change the screen protector. (I could also ship it to other European countries which already have Envy 14 available, maybe Germany)

    You think that's possible?

no clue, and dont think its possible. ur out of luck until something bad actually happens to ur display that would warrant a replacement.

I don't get it. I don't have a warranty anyway, so if something bad happens to my screen (like it gets crashed) I have to pay for it anyway.

So if I'd like it replaced NOW and want to pay for it (I mean, it's not like I have a choice), why wouldn't they agree?

They likely won't ship the part to Poland.

In any event, just give HP a call and you'll have all your answers.

Hi. I have them a call today and they said that's no problem! There's a pretty big chance they can replace the screen as a warranty repair (no idea how's that possible, didn't think the USA warranty works in Poland as well)

They also told me that while the part isn't available in Poland, it can be imported from other European countries or USA, and replaced in Poland. I just need to show them a copy of my invoice (I hope I still have it)

Worst case scenario, they won't find the damage eligible to warranty repair and return it unfixed. (Maybe I'll have to pay to get it replaced, who knows)

And I was afraid I'd have to call Germany ;)
