    I've got a HP Envy 14 1st generation with an i7 Q740M processor.
I wanted to ask if anyone has downgraded the processor to an i5 with the integrated graphics (like i5 450M)? Both have the same socket so I figured it should not be a problem. Does anyone know whether this will/won't work?

nah. they use separate motherboards from what people found out when the computer first came out. So it probably won't work.

I imagine the processor will work just fine, but the motherboard doesn't have switchable graphics enabled, so there's no real point to it. You'd have to get an i5 motherboard to get switchable graphics working.
