I've heard great reviews about the Radiance display on the 2010 Envy 14. I'm able to get a unit for ~$950 (with 1600x900 screen) which is barely under the cost of the new SB Envy 14. My question is, how much power is lost by getting the older model with last years i5 processor and ATI 5650 graphics. I'd like to do some gaming so if the newer model is considerably more powerful I'd probably go for it. Is the better screen worth the worse internals?

    Thanks!

    1. The screen makes significantly more of a difference than the CPU or GPU, when it comes to usability of your computer. The internals mean nothing when you're just browsing the Web or trying to multitask, and since you're not a heavy gamer I don't think prioritizing a slight gain in performance is at all worth it to sacrifice the screen.

    2. The difference between the CPUs will barely make a difference for games.

    3. The 5650 and 6630M are very similar in performance, with the 6630M taking only a slight edge in some benchmarks.

Almost no difference internally. Get the 2010 Envy 14. It's in YOUR GRASP!!

Battery life is slightly better. On the 2010 Envy, most people got 4.5 hrs on power saver. I can get 4.5 hrs on balanced (70% screen brightness). I can get 5+ hrs on power saver. But this isn't a major reason to buy it..
