    Hello all:

I have owned my Envy 14 since August and really like Radiance screen.

I noticed that one of the pixels towards the center of my screen is faulty (it does not change color -it stays white) and this has become quite an annoyance because of the location of this pixel. If it was near an edge, it would be tolerable, but I find this annoying.

When I run one of the "pixel-fixing" programs where it quickly cycles through colors in a specific area, the pixel seems to fix itself but moments later goes back to not working (it goes back to white).

Please let me know if you know of any way to fix. Also, what is HP's policy regarding faulty pixels?

    Thanks!

hi Soccerdude. From my brief understanding of the matter, a dead pixel cannot be fixed, at least not by any known general user that I know. This is a must return issue! You just said, you only owned it since August...uhm, yeah Warranty anyone? LMFAO, no worries mate, you are covered. Called HP as soon as you can, and get them to send you a brand new laptop.... unless they want to fix it...not sure, but you are covered.

Best wishes, happy holidays, and hope I helped a bit. :)

P.S. Great user name by the way. Love soccer!

I would check to see if it is covered by your warranty. This is from a few years ago and I don't know if the standards have changed on HP's.

    HD+, SXGA+ and WXGA+ Panels, <1.6M pixels
7 or more dots in any combination and any color that are always on or off
Any 2 dots within 25mm of each other that are always on
Any 2 dots within 15mm of each other that are always off

I do hope that is a joke....If I saw just 1 tiny dead pixel I would not keep it. That is just HP asking for a major lawsuit. Why should a consumer pay good money for a quality product and be annoyed with a faulty monitor for the rest of the life of ownership? I don't care if its 1 or a 100 pixels. It is not acceptable. Period!

I have a faulty pixel on my Radiance screen too. I've owned it since August, I just ignore it.

Ive heard massaging the stuck pixel sometimes fixes it. Or theres programs that flash things on your screen that might help.

Never dealt with them though so I cant say for sure.

Hopefully the radiance panel is back in stock, otherwise you may get the 1366x768 panel as replacement.

I sent my Envy 14 in for repair because of a bad pixel over a month ago and it has been stuck at the service center ever since because of an obvious "parts shortage". After having my issue escalated to a case manager the only options were to replace it or give me a refund. Since the radiance screen isn't an option anymore there is not option to give me a new laptop so they are going to have to cut me a check for the cost of my laptop.

In other words do not send you product in for repair. They assured me that they would be able to replace the screen but that is obviously not the case. If you are not able to live with the defect then return it to get your money back.

You must be joking, right? Have you never looked at the warranty on any LCD products, regardless of manufacturer? It pays to educate oneself before making such ridiculous comments about lawsuits and the like. Unless there is an explicit "Zero Dead Pixels" policy on the hardware in question, one must assume that some number of dead pixels is acceptable.

For those who are interested (including the OP), HP's dead pixel policy can be found here: About LCD Panel Defects and Terminology

lol, ok, forget the lawsuit thing, I was just heated up  Still, you want to tell me if you have a dead pixel shining blue all the time dead center on your screen you would just "live" with it? Really? I think I would not. I would return it in the alloted time for a brand new laptop, and buy another one, or just another brand. I would never keep it longer than the return policy allows.
